Weed Pipe Buddy

Pattern and pictures by: @crochetbyteisha

Materials:
small amount of any worsted weight (4) yarn
Hook size: D/3.25 mm
small amount of green colored yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver in Spring Green
Fiber fill
safety eyes (you can use any size you want, experiment with different sizes to see what
you like best)
Optional: white and black felt for different looking eyes
Black embroidery thread
Needle for sewing
Stitch Marker
Optional- fabric glue to glue the weed into the bowl, you can also sew it into the bowl if
you prefer

Gauge: Not important for this project

Please read through the entire pattern before beginning, it makes it much easier!

Notes:
This Amigurumi is made in continuous rounds and the first stitch of every round is marked
with a stitch marker. You can use any yarn or hook size you like but, keep in mind that it
will affect the finished size of your pipe. Using a D hook and worsted weight (4) yarn, my
pipe measures 5 ½ inches long from tip to the end of the bowl and the bowl is 1 ½ inches
deep.

Keep in mind if you use safety eyes for this project, it wont be suitable for a baby. Use felt,
or embroider the eyes if giving to a small child.

You may use this pattern to make and sell your project but do not sell the pattern or claim
it is your own, and you must give credit to me as the designer of this project. Tag me on
Instagram:@crochetbyteisha and hashtag #weedpipebuddy so I can see all your pipes!!
Please do not use any of my pictures as your own or as a way to sell your finished item.

Stitches Used and their Abbreviations:

Mr: Magic Ring
Sc: Single Crochet
Inc: Increase
Dec: Decrease
Ch: Chain
F/O: Fasten Off
BLO: Back loop Only
St: Stitch

Pattern:

1- Starting at the “mouth piece” of the pipe, make a mr, ch 1 and sc 6. Pull ring closed(6
sts)

2- Inc. in every stitch around. (12 sts) After making your first sc in this round, place your
stitch marker so you know where you began and where you should end. Move marker up
each round.

3- Inc. Sc 1, Inc. Sc 1, around. (18 sts)

4-21- Sc in each st around (18 Sts)

F/O leaving a long tail for sewing later, stuff firmly and set aside.

Your piece should look like this now with an open end.
Bowl:

1- Starting at the bottom of the “bowl” make a mr, ch1 and Sc 6. Pull ring closed. (6 sts)
After making your first sc in this round, place your stitch marker so you know where you
began and where you should end. Move marker up each round.

2- Inc. in each St around. (12 sts)

3- Inc. Sc 1, Inc. Sc 1, around. (18 sts)

4- Inc. Sc 2, Inc. Sc 2, around. (24 sts)

5- Inc. Sc 3, Inc. Sc 3, around. (30 sts)

6- Inc. Sc 4, Inc. Sc 4, around. (36 sts)

7-11- Sc in each st around. (36 sts)

12- BLO, sc in each stitch around. (36 sts)

Back Loop Only

13- Dec, sc 4, dec, sc 4 around. (30 sts)

At this point you can stop and place the safety eyes, if you are using felt then you should
wait until the end to place and glue your felt eyes on. Place the safety eyes between
rounds 9 and 10, about 5 stitches apart. Experiment with different sized eyes until you find
what you like. After you have placed your eyes you can put the safety washer on the back
of it to secure the eye to your crochet work and go on to the next round.

14- In both loops now and throughout, Dec. Sc 3, Dec. Sc 3, around. (24 sts)
15-17- Sc in every st around. Three total rounds. (24 sts)

Start stuffing, make sure you push the stuffing around all the edges of the bowl to make
sure it looks round. Don't stuff too much or your bowl will bulge up instead of lying down to
make a rounded bowl shape. If you want your pipe to have a flat bottom, use even less
stuffing. You can also place a small piece of cardboard or plastic canvas at the bottom
inside.

17- Dec. Sc 2, Dec. Sc 2, around. (18 sts)

18- Dec. Sc 1, Dec. Sc 1 around (12 sts)

19- Dec around. (6 sts)

F/O leaving a long tail for sewing. Finish stuffing as needed and sew hole shut and push the
middle in along row 12 where you used only the back loops forming it into a bowl. Add a
few stitches on the bottom with your tail after sewing hole shut to hold the sides down. See
picture's below. You can also put a few stitches into the side of the bowl using the same
method as below.
Your bowl should look something like this when it is finished.

Weed:

1- With green yarn, ch 24.

2- Slp st. in 4th ch from hook, Ch 4, slp st. in next ch, ch 4, slp st in next ch. Continue doing
this all the way down the ch.

F/O and weave in ends.

Assembly:

Sew the first piece you crocheted to the bowl:

Wind up your weed and glue it securely into the bottom of the bowl:
Sew a smile on your amigurumi pipe, or what ever expression you want. You can use felt to
make eyes if you would rather, or even use felt if you want to cut out a smile instead to
make it look cartoony.
You can also embroider eyelashes, rosy cheeks, or eye brows. The possibilities are
endless!
