INTERNSHIP EVALUATION
1. Internship of 04 weeks during the intervening period of IV and V semesters;
21INT68_Innovation/ Entrepreneurship/ Societal based Internship.
2. All the students shall have to undergo a mandatory internship of 04 weeks during
the intervening period of IV and V semesters. The internship shall be slated for
CIE only and will not have SEE. The letter grade earned through CIE shall be
included in the VI semester grade card. The internship shall be considered as a
head of passing and shall be considered for vertical progression and for the award
of degree. Those, who do not take up / complete the internship shall be considered
under F (fail) grade and shall have to complete during subsequently after
satisfying the internship requirements.
3. Innovation/ Entrepreneurship Internship shall be carried out at industry, State and
Central Government /Non-government organizations (NGOs), micro, small and
medium enterprise (MSME), Innovation centers or Incubation centers. Innovation
need not be a single major breakthrough; it can also be a series of small or
incremental changes. Innovation of any kind can also happen outside of the
business world. Entrepreneurship internships offers a chance to gain hands on
experience in the world of entrepreneurship and helps to learn what it takes to run
a small entrepreneurial business by performing intern duties with an established
company. This experience can then be applied to future business endeavors. Start-
ups and small companies are a preferred place to learn the business tack ticks for
future entrepreneurs as learning how a small business operates will serve the
intern well when he/she manages his/her own company. Entrepreneurship acts as
a catalyst to open the minds to creativity and innovation. Entrepreneurship
internship can be from several sectors, including technology, small and medium-
sized, and the service sector.
4. Societal or social internship. Urbanization is increasing on a global scale; and yet,
half the world’s population still resides in rural areas and is devoid of many things
that urban population enjoy. Rural internship is a work-based activity in which
students will have a chance to solve/reduce the problems of the rural place for
better living. As proposed under the AICTE rural internship programme, activities
under Societal or social internship, particularly in rural areas, shall be considered
for 40 points under AICTE activity point programme.
5. The Department/college shall nominate staff member/s to facilitate, guide and
supervise students under internship. The students shall report the progress of the
internship to the guide in regular intervals and seek his/her advice.
6. After the completion of Internship, students shall submit the students dairy and a
report with completion and attendance certificates to the Head of the Department
with the approval of both internal and external guides.
Student’s Diary:
The main purpose of writing daily diary is to cultivate the habit of documenting and to
encourage the students to search for details. It develops the students’ thought process
and reasoning abilities. The students shall record in the daily training diary the day to
day account of the observations, impressions, information gathered and suggestions
given, if any, and activities carried out. It should contain the sketches and drawings
related to the observations made by the students. The daily training diary should be
signed after every day or at least twice a week by the Faculty/ in charge of the section
(external expert) where the student has been working. Student’s Diary should be
submitted by the students along with attendance record. It shall be evaluated on the
basis of the following criteria:
(i) Regularity in the maintenance of the diary.
(ii) Adequacy and quality of information recorded.
(iii) Drawings, sketches and data recorded.
(iv) Thought process and recording techniques used.
(v) (v) Organization of the information
Internship report: After completion of Internship, the student shall prepare,
with daily diary as reference, a comprehensive report in consultation with the mentor/s
to indicate what he has observed and learnt in the training period along with the
internship outcomes. The training report should be signed by the mentor. The Internship
report shall be evaluated on the basis of following criteria and/or other relevant criteria
pertaining to the activity completed.
(i) Originality.
(ii) Adequacy and purposeful write-up.
(iii) Organization, format, drawings, sketches, style, language etc.
(iv) Practical applications, relationships with basic theory and
concepts taught in the appropriate course.
(v) Variety and relevance of learning experience.
7. There will be 100 marks for CIE (Report: 50, Presentation: 25 Q & A: 25).
The minimum requirement of CIE marks shall be 50% of the maximum marks
The CIE marks shall be awarded by a committee consisting of the Head of the
concerned Department and two faculty members of the Department, one of whom
shall be the Guide. The CIE marks awarded for the internship, shall be based on
the evaluation of the diary, report, presentation skill and question and answer
session in the ratio 50:25:25.

2. Identify, write down, and carry out performance objectives, optimized
solutions related to their job assignment using modern tools
3. Develop team work, good communication, interpersonal and other
critical skills for job interview process.

work during internships. This learning may be listed by the National Board of
