STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STRUCTURE TEACHING


PROGRAMME(STP) ON KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE ON PREVENTION OF
POSSIBLE SERIOUS BACTERIAL INFECTION AMONG MOTHER OF UNDER
FIVE CHILDREN IN SELECTED URBAN AREA OF KHURDA DISTRICT .

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY :

 To assess the pre test knowledge of the mother about prevention of possible
serious bacterial infection .
 To assess the post test knowledge score of the mother of under five children
 To determine the effectiveness of STP regarding prevention of possible serious
bacterial infection .
 To associate pre-test and post-test knowledge regarding possible serious
bacterial infection among mothers of under-5 children’s .
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION:

1) ASSESS :--
Refers to statistical measurement of knowledge among mothers on questionnaire
regarding serious bacterial infection .
2) EFFECTIVENESS :-
-It is a significant improvement of knowledge & attitude of mothers of under five
children regarding serious bacterial infection after the implication of STP as
evidenced by the difference in pre-test and post-test scores ..

3) KNOWLEDGE:--
The correct written expression in response to the knowledge items listed in
tools management of serious bacterial infection .

4) INFECTION :-
The invasion of an organisms body tissue by disease causing agent , their
multiplication & the reaction of host tissue .

5) MOTHER OF UNDER FIVE CHILDREN :--Refers to the mothers with the


children of age below 5 years .

HYPOTHESIS :

H1 : There is no significant difference between the post-test knowledge score on


possible serious bacterial infection of both control and experimental group
H2 : There is no significant difference between the Pre & post-test Knowledge score of
experimental group .
H3 : There is no significant difference between the post-test attitude score of both control
and experimental group
H4 : There is no significant pre & post-test attitude score of experimental group

DELIMINATION :-
The study was delaminate / limited to :-

1. Mothers of under five children only .


2. Mothers , who are present during the period of study only .
3. Effectiveness of STP in term of knowledge only .
4. Measurement of score for knowledge before & after STP .
