PREAMBLE
RELYING on and trusting God in all our endeavors and in our rights in the exercise of our rights to
adopt for ourselves a document and means of coordinating and regulating our activities.
DESIROUS in raising to the highest levels the intellectual, moral, spiritual and political standards of
our association in order to establish conditions under which justice, tolerance respect and tranquility
can be maintained:
INTENT on established an accountable student government to enrich our heritage and emulate the
principles of probity, accountability, objectivity, veracity and scrupulosity;
SEEKING to promote the welfare of students of this association, ensuring an active participation of
all members in matters directly and or indirectly affecting the students of this association as well as
securing unbreakable ties of fraternal solidarity and fellowship among members, students
population of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and other Universities;
WE the members of the TERTIARY STUDENTS CONFEDERACY OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC
PARTY PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE- GHANA, do hereby adopt, enact and
promulgate this constitution as the BASIC LAW of governance of the members of this association
on this day

                                          ARTICLE ONE
SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION
This constitution shall be the supreme law for the governance of the Tertiary Education Students
Confederacy of the New Partriotic Party, PUC, Abetifi Ghana, subject to the provision of the
constitution of the Students Representative Council of PUC.
ENFORCEMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION
i.   Any member or group of members alleging that an act or omission of any person or a group of
     persons is in contravention of any provision of this constitution may apply to the Judicial
     Committee for an order or declaration to that effect.
ii. Failure to obey or carry out the terms of an order or direction given, pursuant to (ii) supra, shall
    constitute a violation of this constitution and contempt of the Judicial Committee. In the case of
    an Executive Officer, it shall constitute a ground for removal from office.
                                          ARTICLE TWO
NAME AND MOTTO
i.   The Association shall be known and called TERTIARY STUDENTS CONFEDERACY OF
     THE New Patriotic Party, herein after referred to as ‘TESCON’.
ii. The motto of the Association shall be, “COMMITMENT, WITHOUT INDUCEMENT”.
                                         ARTICLE THREE
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
The aims and objectives of the Association shall be:
i.   To offer a common forum for the discussion of problems affecting students especially
     (TESCONITES) and generally to develop a spirit of solidarity among students.
ii. To promote co-operation, understanding and friendship among TESCON members in other
    institutions on one hand and any organization both within and outside the country (Ghana) on
    the other in so far as the aims and objectives of such organizations do not conflict with those of
    the TESCON.
iii. To work in close harmony, with other organizations who share in the ideals of the NEW
     PATRIOTIC PARTY (NPP).

iv. To advocate for RULE OF LAW in the Country with particular reference to issues militating
    against the economy, social, governance and the general public.
v.   To foster closer relationship with professional bodies and employers
vi. To call for and at all times seek DEVELOPMENT IN FREEDOM.
                                       ARTICLE FOUR (4)
MEMBERSHIP
1). ACCREDITED MEMBER(S)
     i.   Every student or person in PUC who share in the ideals of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as
          well as the TESCON and has the well being of persons living in Ghana, shall upon
          registration, willingly be an accredited member of the TESCON, PUC.
     ii. Student(s) in other institutions who have not the establishment of TESCON in their
         respective institution shall following an application of membership become an accredited
         member.
2). ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
     i.   Person(s) who for one reason or the other, may have events turn to their disadvantage, if
          their affiliation to the TESCON is OVERT, shall upon application for consideration by the
          Executive Committee and the Judicial Committee become an ASSOCIATE MEMBER of
          the TESCON, PUC.
3). SYMPATHIZERS
     i.   Person(s) who share the ideals of the New Patriotic Party but are not registered with the
          TESCON, PUC, shall be a sympathizer.
4). HONORARY MEMBERS
     i.   Individual(s) or Group(s) of persons who demonstrate immense commitment to the welfare
          of the TESCON, PUC and are or not members referencing article 4(1) above shall at a
          special ceremony (organized by the Executive Committee) for the purpose be awarded an
          HONORARY MEMBER STATUS.
5). PATRON(S)
     i.   The Association shall have at least five patron(s) who shall be appointed by the Executive
          Committee and presented to members at its Second General Meeting.
     ii. At least two of the Patrons shall be the New Patriotic Party’s Regional and Constituency
         Youth Organizer(s) of which PUC is domain.

     iii. At least one of the Patrons shall also be a lecturer of the PUC.
     iv. All patrons shall be HONORARY MEMBERS of the Association.
                                          ARTICLE FIVE (5)
GENERAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION
i.   The Association shall at least twice a semester organize/convene meetings involving all other
     branches within the region for the purpose to discuss relevant matters in reference to the
     Association and the Party in general.
ii. Liase with other student groups on the various campuses and to establish new groups of similar
    objects.
iii. To organize outreach programmes at least twice a semester in coordinating baby establishments
     under the New Patriotic Party as well as provide support in kind or cash to such bodies.
iv. Organise other morale boosting and academically stimulating programmes with the purpose of
    enhancing and realising the motto of the Association. These shall be in the forms of public
    lectures, sporting activities and other recreational activities.
                                          ARTICLE SIX (6)
STRUCTURE
The Association shall be essentially, a union of like-minded students of the KNUST and others as
stated by this constitution, and shall have the following organs.
i.   General Assembly
ii. Executive Committee
iii. Executive Officers
iv. Judicial Committee
