THE TREASURE HUNT

The treasure hunt is a complete and dynamic activity, as it...

its internal structure is divided into smaller activities through which it
reach the conclusion of the game, namely "find the TREASURE."
It is a game that generally involves dividing the group into two or
more teams, depending on the number of children or boys that
they will participate.
For this reason, it is not proposed at the beginning of the week, because
we need to gain their trust, make them feel comfortable
between them and us, and make them understand that they will have fun! So he will come
organized in the middle of the week or even on the last day of the
vacation, so as to leave a nice memory!

How to prepare a Treasure Hunt

To prepare a good Treasure Hunt, we need to keep
a summary of some key points:
• Children: we will have all the time to understand the quantity and the age.
of the children who will participate in the Hunt; in this way
we can evaluate the type and difficulty of the various tests
that will face, it will also be useful to understand how
divide the teams in a way that they are balanced and
everyone can have fun.
It would be nice to distinguish the teams with a 'name', a
"motto" is a "recognition sign".
• Place: we need to know the spaces in which to carry out the activity.
obviously there will be differences if we find ourselves in a
season at the sea or in the mountains, in summer or in winter.
• Material:
before organizing the tests, let's look at the various
materials we have available, such as cardstock,
sachets, pins, ball, etc..
• Topic:
we can choose whether to base our Hunt on a
Specific theme, which is an animated cartoon, "Peter Pan".
"Trolls" or a common theme, for example "princesses and
cavalieri”, “pirati”.
• Duration:
the duration of the Hunt is based on the time we have.
arrangement for the activity, generally we dedicate a
whole afternoon.

Useful elements for building the Treasure Hunt

• Type
of route: consecutive for classic treasure hunts
(the teams must move from one stage to the next in
order). A rotation for the games of trials (each team starts
from a different stage and visits them all in turns). Free (each
the team can go to the stages in any order they prefer.
• Type of clues: consecutive (overcoming an obstacle grants you the)
suggestion to go to the next stage). Already known
(from the beginning the team knows the path). Explicit or encrypted
hints are written in the form of a riddle or
encrypted). Concrete (can be useful objects for
the continuation of the game). Photographic (is delivered
an image of the next place or a detail of it.
• Type
of tests: Physical (paths, balance and movements).
Mental (riddles and puzzles). Skills (dance, mime, singing,
design…). Knowledge (quiz and culture). With water.
Photographs (it is necessary to photograph the place where you have arrived).
In person (just arrive at the stop to obtain the clue).
Overcoming (it is necessary to reach a minimum goal
to be able to continue). Sooner or later the ranking (it is necessary

to complete it within a specific timeframe, or they are assigned

points based on what can be done).

• Type of victory: the one who arrives first at the last stage wins.
(that is to the treasure); those who perform better in the tests and earn more points;

who is able to find the solution or come closer to it.

Types of Treasure Hunts

Based on the type of clues, evidence, and search methods of the
treasure we can distinguish some different types:
• Classical:
each team starts with a common clue that must be
to be deciphered and that leads to the next stage; in that
place, perhaps after having had to pass a test, is
obtained the next clue and so on until reaching the
final stage: the treasure. The team that arrives first wins.
to the last stage.
We can decide to have the teams follow the path in
different order, changing the numbering of the clues, in such a way
do not let them meet.
The path is common for everyone, therefore the
clue tickets in a stage are all close to each other.
You must only take your own clue.
One must not move, hide, or throw away the clues of
opponents. If a clue is found but does not match that one
what is being sought at the moment should be left in that place
and to take it back when requested.
The whole team must move together and participate.
actively decoding clues and overcoming the
prove (if provided).

• Treasure
Hunt with Map: the game revolves around a
Map, which is handed to participants at the beginning of
game. A map is drawn of the place where you
conducts the hunt.
Clue by clue, the hints or puzzle pieces are grouped together.
that together reveal the place where the treasure is hidden.

• Photographic:the game is played in stages; each team starts with

a clue consisting of a photo of a specific detail of the place
that must be reached. The group must understand where it has been.
taken, move together to reach the place, do to
your return a photo with all the team members and
return to the base from the main referee to show it to him.
If it goes well, the referee presents a test to the team; a
once the stage is completed, a photo clue of the stage is delivered
next, and so on.
The team that arrives first at the last stage wins.

The stages are common to all teams but the order changes.
except for the last one, obviously the whole team must move
in a group and actively participate in overcoming the
prove, in addition to being present in the photos.
In the photos taken by the teams, they must also be sharp.
some details that clearly show the place where they are
state taken.
The tests are all conducted in the vicinity of the base.
of the main referee, still leaving a margin of
space.
If the test is not passed, the team must wait for a
time interval (which depends on the test and its
insufficiency) before receiving the next photo.
The photos to be delivered to the teams must be prepared and
taken previously at the beginning of the game; they can be
print for each team (a printer is needed), or
send via WhatsApp to a team member in the
opportune moment.
Instead of the landscape, you can also photograph just a few.
specific features of the place to find, such as a sign, a tree or
a handle.

• Things to do or look for: in this case it will be delivered to

each team a list of things "generally strange or
"particulars" to look for, create, or do.
Everything is paired with a score.
The team will have a specific time within which it must
search for most or all the things that are on the list.
The team that scores the highest wins.
