Describe something you would like to learn in the future

You should say
What it is:
How you would like to learn it
Where you would like to learn it
Why you would like to learn it
And explain whether it’s difficult to learn it

Word bank (no particular order):

develop proper technique/ relieve stress/ grasp the basics/ stay motivated/ put in the
hours/ access learning materials/ get the hang of it/ supplement my learning/
coordinate both hands

One thing I’ve always wanted to learn—and something I hope to do in the near future—is
playing the piano. It’s a beautiful instrument that has the ability to convey a wide range of
emotions, and I’ve always admired people who can sit down and play a piece of music
effortlessly. To me, it’s not just a skill, but also an art form.

Ideally, I’d like to learn it through a combination of private lessons and self-study. I believe
having a skilled teacher would help me (1) __________ and (2) __________, especially at
the beginning. At the same time, I’d probably (3) __________ with YouTube tutorials or
music-learning apps to reinforce what I’ve been taught. These days, it’s quite easy to (4)
__________ online, so I think combining both methods would be the most effective.

If I had the choice, I’d love to take lessons at a local music academy, where I could practice
on high-quality instruments and maybe even join a beginner’s group class. Learning in a
supportive environment with other students might also help me (5) __________ and stick to
a regular practice schedule.

The main reason I want to learn the piano is because I think it’s a great way to (6)
__________, unwind, and express myself creatively. On top of that, I’ve read that learning to
play an instrument can enhance memory, improve concentration, and boost overall brain
function, which sounds like a great bonus.

That said, I’m aware that it’s not something I’ll master overnight. Learning to read music, (7)
__________, and develop muscle memory takes a lot of time and effort. But I’m willing to (8)
__________ and practice consistently, because I believe the reward will be worth it. With
dedication and patience, I’m confident I could eventually (9) __________ and maybe even
play some of my favorite songs.

Part3:

1. What’s the most popular thing to learn nowadays?

📘 Useful collocations / idioms / phrasal verbs:

● pick up a new skill – học kỹ năng mới

● stay ahead of the curve – đón đầu xu hướng

● in high demand – có nhu cầu cao

● upskill oneself – nâng cao kỹ năng bản thân

● boost one’s employability – tăng khả năng được tuyển dụng

● tech-savvy – thành thạo công nghệ

● digital literacy – kỹ năng số

Nowadays, a lot of people are trying to pick up new skills like programming, graphic
design, or even foreign languages. These skills are in high demand, especially in the digital
world. I think the reason is that people want to stay ahead of the curve and boost their
employability. Also, being tech-savvy and having strong digital literacy have become
essential in almost every profession.

2. At what age should children start making their own decisions? Why?
📘 Useful collocations / idioms / phrasal verbs:

● gain independence – đạt được sự độc lập

● learn from mistakes – học hỏi từ sai lầm

● develop critical thinking – phát triển tư duy phản biện

● build self-confidence – xây dựng sự tự tin

● take ownership of decisions – chịu trách nhiệm với lựa chọn

● be mature enough to… – đủ trưởng thành để…

I believe children should start making small decisions around the age of 13 or so. That’s
when they begin to gain independence and develop their own views. Allowing them to
choose for themselves helps them build self-confidence and develop critical thinking. Of
course, they might make mistakes, but it’s important that they learn from mistakes early on
so they can take ownership of their actions later in life.

3. Which makes young people choose a major, income or interest?

📘 Useful collocations / idioms / phrasal verbs:

● follow one’s passion – theo đuổi đam mê

● make a decent living – kiếm sống khá

● job prospects – triển vọng nghề nghiệp

● financial stability – sự ổn định tài chính

● strike a balance between passion and practicality – cân bằng giữa đam mê và
thực tế

● be driven by money / passion – bị thúc đẩy bởi tiền bạc / đam mê

It really depends on the person, but I’d say many young people try to strike a balance
between passion and practicality. Some follow their passion, even if the income isn't
great, while others are more driven by financial stability. Personally, I think job prospects
and long-term income potential play a big role. At the same time, if you're not passionate
about what you do, it’s hard to make a decent living in the long run.

4. Do young people take their parents’ advice on choosing a major?

📘 Useful collocations / idioms / phrasal verbs:

● take someone’s advice to heart – thật sự nghe theo lời khuyên

● go along with – đồng ý, làm theo

● clash with parents over... – bất đồng với bố mẹ về...

● be under pressure from family – chịu áp lực từ gia đình

● weigh one’s options – cân nhắc các lựa chọn

● have a say in one’s future – có quyền quyết định tương lai

In many cases, yes. Especially in traditional cultures, children often take their parents'
advice to heart. Some might go along with what their parents suggest because they feel
pressure from their families. However, it’s also common to clash with parents over
career choices, especially if the child wants to pursue something unconventional. In the
end, I think young people should have a say in their future and try to weigh their options
carefully.

5. Besides parents, who else would people take advice from?

📘 Useful collocations / idioms / phrasal verbs:

● seek advice from peers / mentors – xin lời khuyên từ bạn bè / người cố vấn

● look up to someone – ngưỡng mộ và làm theo ai đó

● rely on professional guidance – dựa vào sự hướng dẫn chuyên nghiệp

● turn to someone for help – tìm đến ai đó để được giúp đỡ

● be influenced by social media figures – bị ảnh hưởng bởi người nổi tiếng trên
mạng

Aside from parents, people often seek advice from mentors, teachers, or close friends.
Some even turn to professionals, like career counselors, when making important
decisions. Nowadays, it’s also quite common for young people to look up to influencers or
role models online. They might rely on professional guidance, but at the same time,
social media can have a big impact on how people think about success and career paths.

6. Why do some people prefer to study alone?

📘 Useful collocations / idioms / phrasal verbs:
● stay focused / stay on task – giữ sự tập trung

● avoid distractions – tránh bị xao nhãng

● learn at one’s own pace – học theo tốc độ riêng

● have full control over one’s schedule – chủ động thời gian

● deep concentration – tập trung sâu

● zone out in groups – lơ đãng khi học nhóm

Some people just find it easier to stay focused when they’re on their own. Studying alone
allows them to learn at their own pace and avoid distractions that usually come with
group study. Also, they can have full control over their schedule, which makes it more
efficient. Personally, I find that I can achieve deep concentration when I study by myself,
while in groups I sometimes zone out or waste time chatting.
