Topic: Homes and Living Spaces

Question 1: We've been talking about a home you like to visit. Now I'd like
to ask you some more general questions about homes and where people
live. Let’s start with different types of accommodation. What are the main
differences between living in a house and living in an apartment?

- In my opinion, between a house and an apartment are the most

different about space, Location & convenience
- By and large, houses usually have more rooms, outdoor areas, and in
some houses have storage. Moreover, when we live in a house, we
have more freedom than live in apartment.
- About locations of houses, In the city, If we want to live in the center
city because in here we can easier with some places like
entertainments, sports, companies,…, we have to buy or build a
house in center city, but the cost of houses are prohibitive.
- On the other hand, when we live in an apartment, we could live in the
center city. We can easier in move on to places where we want.
Moreover, we can have more interact with neighbors. But live in an
apartment, we haven’t more freedom because we can share our walls
with neibourhoods.
- EX: My mother’s friend live in an apartment and my aunt family live in
a house. So when I meet my mother’s friend, she complained about
her apartment many things. Her neighbors aren’t very nice person. Or
about noisy, we have to share our walls, so we can hear the noise
around our apartment. Then my aunt family, they have more freedom
and more comfrotable. They have a dog, have a garden,…and when
she talk with me, she also very love her house.
- Inconclusion, The choice of house or apartment or anythings which
we live with my relatives. We have to consider about many aspects. I
believe people can choose reasonably.

Question 2: Do you think modern homes are more comfortable to live in

than traditional homes?
Yes, modern homes are definitely more comfortable than traditional homes.
Besides, they are also popular and convenient.

First of all, when we live in a modern home, especially for a housewife, it

can make housework much easier. With advanced technology such as
cleaning robots, automatic dishwashers, glass-cleaning robots, and other
smart appliances, housework becomes less tiring and more efficient. This
kind of home is also very suitable for people who are lazy or too busy to do
daily chores.

For example, instead of spending one or two hours cleaning the floor, a
smart vacuum cleaner can do the job automatically. This allows family
members to spend more quality time together or focus on their work.

On the other hand, some people may argue that traditional homes are
cozier and have cultural values. However, in terms of convenience and
comfort in daily life, I strongly believe that modern homes are a better
choice.

Question 3: What are the challenges of finding a suitable place to live in

your country?

-One of the biggest challenges is the high cost of housing in many cities.
The price of apartments and houses has increased quickly, while salaries
don’t grow as fast. So young people or poor families struggle to afford a
decent home.

For example, in many urban areas, the price of housing is so high that
people can only afford to share a small room with others. As a result, their
privacy and quality of life are affected a lot.

Another challenge is overpopulation and limited space in urban areas.

Too many people move to the cities, so it is difficult to find a quiet and
clean neighborhood. Some apartments are very small and crowded, which
affects people’s health and lifestyle.

On the other hand, if people choose to live in the countryside, they can
enjoy cheaper and larger houses. However, the problem is the lack of job
opportunities and modern facilities there. So, in my opinion, finding a
suitable place always requires balancing between cost, convenience, and
quality of life.

Question 4: In the future, do you think more people will live in cities or in
the countryside

I think in the future more people will live in cities. The main reason is that
cities offer more job opportunities, better education, and modern
healthcare, which attract young people.

For example, many students from rural areas in my country move to big
cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to study and then stay there to work
after graduation.

However, living in the countryside also has advantages such as fresh air,
less traffic, and cheaper houses. Some people, especially the elderly, may
prefer the countryside for a peaceful life.

overall, because of career development and convenience, I believe the

majority of people will still choose to live in cities.
