V neck jumper in stripes
Size: small - medium large - xlarge
Chest: 86 94 102 114 cm (in: 33 - 37 40 45 )
Length: 58 60 63 64 cm (in: 22 - 23 - 24 - 25 )
Materials: 400 400 600 600 g CASTELBUONO, 100 % merino
wool, 200 200 300 300 g col A, 200 200 - 300 300 g col B.
1 ball/skein = 100 g (3 oz).
Needles: no 2 mm and 3 mm (UK 12 & 11)(US 1 &3).
Tension: 26 sts in stocking sts using needles no 3 mm (UK 11)(US 3) =
10 cm (4 in)
Pattern: plain knitting (stocking sts).
Pattern I: stripes 2 rows each colour A and B (body).
Pattern II: stripes 4 rows each colour A and B (sleeves).
Rib: knit 4, purl 2.
Edge sts (1
st
and last st on all rows): always knit.

Back: cast on 110 122 134 148 sts on needles no 2 mm (UK 12)(US 1
) with col. A and work 3 cm stocking sts for a rolling edge. Change to
needles no 3 mm and continue in pattern I beginning with col B. After 4
rows decrease at each side by knitting 2 sts tog for every 8 8 10 10
rows 5 times = 100 112 124 138 sts on the row. Now all measures are
taken from the beginning of the stripes. When the work measures 15 16
17 17 cm (in: 6 - 6 - 6 - 6 )increase 1 st at each side repeating
increasing for every 5 cm (2 in) 4 times = 110 122 134 148 sts on the
row. When work measures 37 38 39 38 cm (in: 14 15 - 15 - 15)
cast off at both sides for armhole for 5 5 6 6 sts. Continue casting off
at both sides on every 2
nd
row for 2 sts 1 times, 1 st 3 times and on every 4
th

row 1 st 2 2 3 3 times = 86 98 106 120 sts on the row. Continue
straight up until armhole measures 13 14 15 17 cm (in: 5 - 5 - 6 6
). Put aside on a stitch-holder the middle 46 54 58 64 sts and
complete each shoulder one at the time. Cast off at neck side on every 2
nd

row for 2 sts 1 1 1 2 time(s) and 1 st 4 times. When armhole measures
18 19 21 23 cm (in: 7 7 - 8 - 9 ) cast off for shoulder from
armhole side in 2 turns without changing colour: 7 sts 2 times 8 sts 2
times 9 sts 2 times 10 sts 2 times. Complete the other shoulder in the
same way.

Front: work as described for the back until casting off for armhole. At the
same time cast off the middle 2 sts for v neck and complete the shoulder
parts one part at the time. Cast off for armhole as for the back and cast off
at neck side 1 st on every 2
nd
row 21 27 27 33 times and on every 4
th

row 7 5 7 6 times.At the same time when armhole has reached the
same height as for the back cast off for shoulder as described. Complete
the other part in the same way.

Sleeves: cast on 52 58 64 68 sts on needles no 2 mm (UK 12)(US 1
) with col. B. Purl the next row back (wrong side row). Work 2 rows in
stocking sts. Change to col. A and knit 1 row. Now work rib as it is a wrong
side row the rib is purl 4, knit 2 starting the row: 1 edge st, knit 2 purl 1,
knit 2 knit 2 knit 2. Work rib 4 cm (1 in). Change to needles no 3 mm
and col. B and continue in pattern II. When work measures 6 cm (2 in)

increase 1 st each side. Repeat incresing for every 8 8 6 6 rows until 90
98 76 82 sts on the row and for size L and XL continue increasing for
every 8 rows until 104 112 sts on the row. When the work measures
around 46 46 47 47 cm (in: 18 18 - 18 - 18 ) after a stripe in
col. A complete the sleeve in col. B (or col. A if you prefer). Cast off at both
sides on every 2
nd
row for 5 5 6 6 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 19 20
22 24 times, 2 sts 2 times, 3 sts 1 2 2 2 times. Cast off the remaining
24 24 24 28 sts. Work the other sleeve in the same way.

Make up: sew the right shoulder seam. Pick up from right side with col. A
and needles no 2 mm 102 106 112 118 sts along the V neck and 70
76 80 88 sts along the back nec the sts on the stitch-holder included.
Knit 1 row back. Work 6 rows in rib NOTE: at mid front purl 2 at the
bottom of the V. At the same time on the 3
rd
and 5
th
row knit 2 sts together
each side of the 2 purl mid front at the bottom of the V. After the rib
change to col. B and work 4 rows in stocking sts. Cast off without tightening
the edge. Sew the left shoulder. Sew the underarm seams and the
sideseams. Join in the sleeves.
