Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
So do our mirru tes hasten to their end;
Each changing place with that which goes before,
In sequent toil all forwards do contend.
Nativity, once in the main of light,
Crawls to maturity, wherewith being crowrr'd,
Crooked eclipses 'gairrst his glory fight,
And Time that gave doth now his gift confound .
Time doth transfix the flourish set orr youth
And delves the parallels in beauty's brow,
Feeds orr the rarities of nature's truth,
And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow:
And yet to times in hope my verse shall stand,
Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand .

Shakespeare
It has been my privilege to leave a message in your school annual for many
years. As I glance through past issues I find that I have, on a few occasions,
attempted to express my own thoughts and philosophy which I have developed through
the years.

More often, however, I have quoted from those much wiser than I in fields
of education, philosophy, etc. who have contributed so much toward the uplifting
of the human mind and spirit.

In this issue I would like to quote the text used by the Baccalaureate speaker
years ago at my own high school graduation. I hope that it will:

(a) impress the minds of you students as it has mine.

(b) cause you to read further and often in the Book from where it comes.

" Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all
thy getting get understanding . " Proverbs 4:7

If you do read further you will find among other things, "He that gathereth in
summer is a wise son; but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame."
10:5
Your appreciation for the pages of this book will increase as the years pass.
May they ever remind you of your excellences and virtues as well as those of your
fellow students, and may all your memories be pleasant ones.

Sincerely

~ndent~~~.~--

The Custodians The Bus Drivers

It is vitally important to a good education pro-
