CHELSEY M.

D’EREDITA
213 Paul Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206 | 315-727-3596 | cmacdougall1019@gmail.com

It is with great eagerness that I am applying for an administrative position in your

district for the 2018-2019 school year. I am currently enrolled in the Certificate of
Advanced Study Program at the State University of New York at Oswego, where I am
working to complete the Educational Leadership program. As someone who has worked
in the Syracuse City School District since 2010, I am confident I possess the qualities to
provide a safe and nurturing environment, which promotes equity and academic
achievement for all students.
It goes without saying that many of our districts suffer adversity and poverty,
which seem to overwhelmingly be connected to underperforming schools; however, I am
a fearless leader who refuses to allow these challenges to prevail. I will lead a staff to
establish a transformational environment by setting high expectations for students,
fostering a safe and collaborative climate, and promoting attitudes of professionalism and
commitment. I will be an ethical leader who develops a culture of trust, who encourages
shared leadership, and who is courageous enough to depart from the norm. One of my
strengths is my enthusiasm, and I will be a leader who excites students and staff about
learning. To see change, we will all have to work together and understand our purpose in
doing so.
During my career in Syracuse City Schools, I have worked with many diverse
students in various capacities. My experience as an English as a New Language teacher
has given me insight into the wide array of cultures that our students represent. Working
at the high school level deepened my understanding of how data-driven instruction is an
essential component to meeting the needs of all learners. As an educator in the
Alternative Education Program, I had the opportunity to build relationships with students,
whom I may never have had a chance to work with, some of the most challenging I have
encountered. My work in a PreK-8 School gave me the opportunity to observe the
implementation of procedures and routines necessary for middle school students to meet
success. My current position at Franklin Elementary as the Administrative Intern has
enriched my experience as an educator and change agent. Leading a staff to further
develop their skills in order to enhance the learning of students is my passion; I honestly
cannot imagine doing anything else. It is with these diverse experiences that I feel I am
prepared for this position.
I believe this position is one where my passion for education will continue to
grow. I look forward to the opportunity to further developing as an educator and as a
leader in our schools. I will be a leader our scholars and staff members need and deserve,
one who will empower them and focus on continuous improvement.
