manipulate images, create GIFS, etc.
Learners are also introduced to standard
image editing tools, which are also used in
different image editing platforms.
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Familiarize themselves with the GIMP interface.

2. Open a file.
3. Modify the canvas size.
4. Use the Crop Tool to edit an image.
5. Save a file.
6. Export a file.
Essential
Question
Why is it
important to learn
how to use
software for
editing photos?
GNU Image Manipulation Program or
GIMP is one of the most popular image
editing software. Knowing how to use it will
give you multiple technical skills on graphic
design, image editing, image manipulation,
etc. Familiarizing yourself with GIMP’s
interface will also allow you to use other
image editing software in the future like
Adobe Photoshop, since some of their
features and tools are similar. Learning
how to open, create, save, and export files
in GIMP is a basic skill even when using
other software.

GIMP
GNU Image Manipulation Program or GIMP is a free and
open-source image editor that can run on multiple
platforms like Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS, and
other operating systems. Since it is an open-source editor,
professional users can edit the source code, enabling them
to create plug-ins or updates that provide different tools
and
new customizations to existing tools. Since its
release in 1996, it has now evolved to become a
competitive and free alternative to Adobe
Photoshop.
