Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 826 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently struggle with faulty hardware and devices that constantly disconnect from Wi-Fi, stop working shortly after purchase, or block third-party supplies. Consumers also state that customer support agents are extremely unhelpful, difficult to reach, and leave buyers deeply frustrated after wasting hours trying to resolve technical problems. Buyers often feel trapped by aggressive corporate policies and mandatory online restrictions that prevent proper device usage. Some reviewers were happy with specific support staff who provided patient and effective assistance, while a few others also found the automated ink subscription convenient and reliable.

Multiple processes problems in All In Print Plan

I ordered a printer as part of the all in print plan. They sent me the wrong one. They told me the couldn't just replace it; I would have to open a new account. Then sent a return label and I promptly executed the return. They never updated my account and subsequently charged me for the printer. As of this time, despite multiple contacts with customer support, they have not refunded the improper charge.

Formal Complaint

Formal Complaint – HP Laptop Company

I am filing a complaint against HP Laptop Company for refusing to refund my HP SmartFriend subscription and failing to resolve my technical and product issues despite multiple calls.

On 14‑SEP‑2026, I purchased HP SmartFriend Service, Agreement CA0000268155290001, for a total of $56.28. During my first and only session, technician Karlo told me within five minutes that he could not fix my laptop. At purchase, I was clearly told I could cancel anytime and receive an immediate refund if the service was unsatisfactory.

When I requested the refund, support staff were rude and obstructive. Supervisors Akshay and Vijay were also unprofessional and prolonged the issue instead of resolving it. To date, no refund has been issued.

The laptop itself was advertised as Windows 11, but I received Windows 10, which is a clear misrepresentation.

I have repeatedly asked HP for the CEO’s email address and direct phone number, or any true executive escalation contact. Every representative refused, blocking any meaningful escalation.

I have referred family and business associates to HP and now deeply regret it. HP’s conduct shows disregard for customers and basic accountability.

I request BBB intervention to compel HP to refund my $56.28 and address the misrepresented laptop and unresolved technical issues.

1 STAR

1 STAR — My HP printer cost around ₹10,000, and now one failed/defective part alone is being quoted at ₹8,000 for replacement.

Paying almost 80% of the printer’s original price for a single part is extremely disappointing. This has completely changed my view of HP. I would not recommend HP printers/products to others.

HP Customer Service Nightmare

HP Customer Service Nightmare: Broken Promises, Contradictions, and Abandoned Support (Case #5162489807)
I am taking this public after HP officially declined my case and abandoned support, despite explicit commitments made on recorded phone lines and written email correspondence.
The Technical Issue:
My HP Omen 15 developed a severe, system-breaking audio failure. Within 30 seconds of initiating any audio playback (games, videos, music), the sound becomes completely distorted, robotic, and filled with static. Restarting the laptop temporarily resets it, but the sound breaks again immediately upon playing audio. I have performed exhaustive troubleshooting, including multiple full factory resets and driver reinstalls, to no avail.
The Chain of Lies, Contradictions, and Unfulfilled Commitments:
Throughout my interactions regarding Case #5162489807, representative Anand Rao and the support team made clear promises both on recorded calls and in writing:
* The "SmartFriend" Support Lie: Representative Anand Rao explicitly promised me a complimentary diagnostic session with HP’s paid SmartFriend tech support team as a courtesy to fix the issue. This session was never provided.
* The 40% Voucher Lie: I was offered a 40% off coupon code toward a replacement laptop on the official HP website. That voucher code was never sent.
* Contradictory Escalations: HP staff repeatedly lied about the status of my file. One representative explicitly assured me, "We are escalating your case to senior management," only for the very next agent to turn around and state, "We are not escalating this."
* Ticket Closure & Ghosting: Representative Anand Rao unilaterally closed Case #5162489807 without fulfilling either promise, failed to pass the file to a supervisor, and ignored every follow-up email I sent.
* The Rejection: Now, after trying to reach executive management, HP has outright declined the ticket altogether—sweeping their broken promises under the rug.
I have used HP products literally my entire life. Offering specific resolutions on recorded lines, making written promises about SmartFriend support and discount vouchers, contradicting your own escalation claims, and then declining the case when held accountable is deceptive and unacceptable customer care.
I am demanding that HP Executive Management review the recorded call logs and email thread with Anand Rao, address the internal misconduct, and honorably resolve this situation.

Warranty claim closed with no resolution

My HP laptop (model 9X3C3PA) developed a blue screen fault along with horizontal lines across the display, well within the warranty period. I raised a warranty claim and was passed between departments for weeks without a clear answer on whether the model could be serviced or whether the fault was covered. HP eventually closed the case (case 5161467196, CRM 0012078005199) without resolving the issue or confirming coverage. I also emailed Tony Neal, HP Australia's Head of Customer Service, directly to escalate, and never received a reply. After months of unanswered questions and a case closed with no resolution, I've given up on HP resolving this through normal channels and am now pursuing other options.

Goodbye, HP — You Lost a Loyal Customer

I bought an HP computer and an HP printer specifically because I expected products from the same company to work together simply and reliably.

Instead, HP has managed to make one of the most basic functions of owning a printer — connecting it to a computer and printing — unnecessarily complicated.

I had a perfectly functional setup, and rather than continuing to support simple, direct printing, HP has pushed users toward newer software, accounts, Wi-Fi connectivity, apps, and additional layers of technology that are simply not necessary for basic printing.

That is not an improvement. It is making a simple product harder to use.

A printer should not require a software ecosystem, cloud services, repeated setup procedures, or unnecessary wireless technology just to perform the basic function it was purchased for. Changing software and support underneath customers who already had working equipment is incredibly frustrating.

What makes this especially disappointing is that I deliberately chose an HP computer and HP printer because I assumed that would provide the simplest and most compatible experience possible. It has done exactly the opposite.

HP has successfully run me off as a customer. I will not buy another HP computer or printer for myself, and I will not purchase HP equipment for my employees going forward.

When a company can turn something as simple as printing into this much trouble, it has lost sight of what its customers actually need.

HP instant ink service and printers.

The fact that HP came up with an ink subscription service that bricks your ink cartridges once you cancel is diabolical. Whatever C suite exec came up with this "service" should be held liable to legal action. The fact that they can brick physical things I am paying for is insane. I hope this company fails I will not be purchasing any products from them going forward. I urge you all to do the same.

HP products are the worst

HP products are the worst. Bought expensive pc and printer from them, it was nothing but a 6 month headache. I threw both in the garbage and purchased new products way better and stress free. I will never consider HP products or services again.

I bought the HP OmniBook 5 on Amazon-Not Recommended

I bought the HP OmniBook 5 on Amazon, and it has been an absolute nightmare. For a premium machine marketed as a "next-gen AI PC," the actual daily user experience is a major downgrade.
First of all, the port selection is a complete joke. It only comes with two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. Because they skimped on basic connectivity, I am forced to carry a ridiculous array of dongles and adapters everywhere I go just to plug in a monitor, an SD card, or basic peripherals.
Using AI as a marketing excuse to strip out necessary physical hardware is pathetic. To make matters worse, the heavily advertised battery life is a complete lie. Under completely normal, everyday usage—just light browsing and document editing—the battery collapses in about 6–7 hours.
Having a portable laptop that forces you to constantly hunt for a wall outlet before lunchtime completely defeats the purpose of buying an ultra-portable device.
Additionally, it seems Amazon is actively suppressing or refusing to publish negative feedback for this product. They are protecting the brand at the expense of regular consumers. Save your hard-earned money and skip the HP OmniBook line entirely—this laptop is a poorly engineered dongle-hell with an awful battery.
I bought the HP omniBook in March, this review is after 5 months of usage. Recommendation : DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Run from HP. Products have gotten worse.

Bought a printer and set it up. The scanner has to be rebooted every time you use it. Won't copy but one page at a time. If you don't subscribe to their ink program they lock you out of your printer. Customer service doesn't care when you do finally get someone on the phone. Worst experience I've ever had with a company.

Absolute worst

HP products & services are the absolutely worst! there is a reason why they are constantly have "special offers" because that's the only way to lure people into buying their products.
Printer constantly has to be rebooted or reconnected to WiFi which is a waste of time when you have a busy work day.
The portal for checking account details is also just as terrible, you have to re-enter your login details each time to navigate around the pages.
And the support? practically non existent, you get an AI bot taking you round in circles, then when you get to speak with an agent, they are just as incompetent as the AI bot as they just signpost you to rubbish irrelevant support articles to read.
All in all, a fantastically rubbish product and customer service - 1 star is generous

Waste of time and money!

Waste of time and money!

I first bought an HP printer years ago and it worked really well. Then, Instant Ink came on the scene and everything went to shit.
My printer just never worked properly again. I then thought, “You know what, it’s been a few years, maybe I should just buy a new one.” That was even worse. This one wouldn’t even connect to Wifi and when I tried to contact customer service, it was a scam call line. I am officially through with HP. Do not ever buy a printer from them. I will just be going to the library from now on and paying 25 cents a paper. It costs a whole lot less and actually works.

HP Deceptive

When I set up my printer using the HP Smart Software, the interface presented the Instant Ink subscription as a mandatory step to finish activation. It did not clearly disclose the subscription was entirely optional. This is a deceptive trade of practice. Don't get lured into purchasing a subscription.

INSOLENCE BEYOND COMPREHENSION

INSOLENCE BEYOND COMPREHENSION. I left my computer unattended with Word open and came back to find Word had been shut down and hours of unsaved work wiped out. Windows logs show HP One Agent running in the background and triggering activity that interfered with my open Office programs.
I received NO warning, NO REQUEST FOR PERMISSION and no chance to save anything. HP apparently thinks it is acceptable for its unwanted background software to take control of a computer, interfere with applications that are already in use, and leave the owner to deal with the damage afterwards. It is staggering that software installed by the manufacturer itself can create this kind of risk.
I have now lost hours of work because of HP’s intrusive rubbish, then lost even more time trying to recover it and work out what HP had done. I should be able to leave my own computer open without wondering whether some useless HP process is going to decide to run itself and wreck whatever I am working on. This is reckless, infuriating and completely unacceptable. I wish I could return the favour and WIPE the PCs of the ignorant designers at HP!

What has happened to HP

What has happened to HP? I've always used their printers, but had to buy a new one, subscribed for ink...and now my printer wont accept the cartridges as the subscription hasn't linked. I've used the HP help and we've gone into settings, but the options to change it isn't there and now I'm being accused of setting a password!
So no more HP for me!
