nAChRα3라고도 알려진 뉴런 아세틸콜린 수용체 서브유닛 알파-3는 인간에서 CRNA3유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질이다.[5][6] 이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 특정 니코틴 아세틸콜린 수용체(nAchR)의 하위 단위다. 동물에서 메카밀라민을 사용한 연구는 알파-3 함유 nAChRs를 에탄올의 학대적이고 중독성 있는 성질에 포함시켰다.
