NGC 823은 IC 1782로도 알려져 있으며 Fornax 별자리에 있는 무차단 렌즈 은하다.[4]은하수에서 194만 광년으로 추정되며 지름은 약 10만 광년이다.NGC 823은 1830년 10월 14일 천문학자 존 허셜에 의해 발견되었다.[6][5]
