NGC 540은 세토자리에 있는 렌즈콩 은하다.은하수에서 4억5100만 광년으로 추정되며 지름은 약 12만 광년이다.[citation needed]이 물체는 1885년 10월 15일 미국의 천문학자 프랜시스 리븐워스에 의해 발견되었다.[4][5][6]
