Mabe Village is the location where Marin takes Link to after he washes ashore. It is here that Link is nursed back to health by Marin before he wakes up and begins his adventure.[6]

In Link's Awakening DX, five Photographs of The Travels of Link can be obtained in Mabe Village. The first can be obtained by walking up to the window outside of Old Man Ulrira's House. The Photographer will then appear and take a picture of Grandpa Ulrira talking on the phone.[13] The second photo can be obtained by walking up to BowWow after returning him to Madam Meowmeow. The Photographer will appear and take a picture of BowWow and Link playing.[14] The third can be obtained by stealing from the Town Tool Shop. It will automatically be added to the photo album. The other two Photographs can only be obtained while Link is escorting Marin. For the first one, Link must Leap into the Well. The Photographer will appear and take a picture of Marin landing on Link.[15] For the second one, Link and Marin must approach the Weathercock. Tarin will come along and a picture will be taken of the three of them.[16]
Mabe Village boasts the largest farm in all of Hyrule, with more animals than villagers. From making hay to processing milk, it's clear when something has come from Mabe Village, and the villagers take pride in that fact.
The name Mabe is derived from the Japanese version's name for the Village, メーベ (Mēbe). In French and German, Mabe Village is named for Seagulls: Village des Mouettes in the French version and Mövendorf in the German version, which means "village of seagulls" in both languages.
