HRLY

HRLY (Hourly) is a minimalist hourly chime app designed to help you keep track of time without constantly checking your phone. It uses a simple system of long and short tones to signify the hour, running quietly in the background.

How It Works

The app uses a combination of two sounds to represent the time:

Tone Length Time
Short 1 Hour
Long 5 Hours

These tones compound to announce the current hour. For example, 7:00 will be announced with one long tone and two short tones.

Features

  • Simple Time System: Long and short tones compound to count out the hour.
  • Chime Modes: Pick Sound, Vibrate, or Both, with vibration length matched to each tone.
  • Play in Silent or Vibrate: Optionally keep the chime audible even when the ringer is silenced or on vibrate (Do Not Disturb is still respected).
  • Single Chime: Play one tone each hour instead of counting the hour.
  • Custom Sounds: Use your own audio files for the short and long tones, and trim them to length.
  • Custom Timing: Adjust the gap between tones.
  • Quiet Hours: Pause chimes during a time range you set.
  • Notification Controls: Skip the next chime, pause, or stop the service from the notification, or minimize it.
  • Background Service: Runs efficiently in the background to chime on the hour.
  • Minimalist Design: A clean, no-frills interface.
  • Open Source: Licensed under the GNU GPLv3.
