OK1BR — Richard Fakenberg

Native Linux software in plain C — ham radio by passion, software by profession.

📻 The -for-linux suite

A family of native ham radio applications for the modern Linux desktop — an SDR transceiver, a multi-channel skimmer and a logbook that talk to each other over TCI, plus a few side projects. Plain C · GTK4 + libadwaita · Meson · GPLv3. No Electron, no web wrappers — software that starts instantly, follows your desktop theme and respects your RAM.

💼 Professionally

Software Architect & Head of Development in vehicle telematics — GPS/satellite fleet tracking. I design the platform, lead the dev team and still write code every day.

  • Architecture — real-time telematics platform: telemetry ingest & processing, REST APIs, integrations with logistics and CRM systems
  • IoT & devices — fleets of GPS/IoT tracking units (Teltonika and others): device protocols, provisioning, remote management
  • Servers & ops — Linux servers, MySQL, Zabbix monitoring
  • AI engineering — agentic LLM tooling wired into development and operations (Claude, custom MCP servers); local inference experiments (Ollama, OpenVINO on Intel NPU)

What I care about: software that is fast, native and honest — on the desktop and on the server.
