Brad Kaufman

I work on enterprise AI systems, particularly in regulated environments. My work covers architecture, governance, operating models, and implementation, including the design and development of working software.

Current focus

  • Enterprise agents and the systems required to govern them
  • Policies, permissions, provenance, human review, and auditability
  • Operational ontologies and semantic models for regulated workflows
  • AI-assisted application development with traceable architecture and controls
  • Knowledge portability across models, tools, and organizations
  • Modern banking and financial platform architecture

Architecture themes

  • Governing agent behavior as systems increase in scale and autonomy
  • Separating domain semantics from application and workflow logic
  • Representing business objects, actions, policies, and decisions consistently across systems
  • Preserving evidence, lineage, and decision history in AI-enabled workflows
  • Moving structured knowledge between platforms without rebuilding its context each time

Public work

Architecture notes and synthetic reference examples for governed enterprise agents, controlled execution, authority boundaries, human approval, and auditability.

A vendor-neutral reference model for authoritative enterprise knowledge, including provenance, permissions, versioning, supersession, and conflict resolution across AI systems and agents.

Most production systems and client work remain private.

Background

Founder of Thoughtive. Previously Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Account CTO and Global Technology Partner at Cognizant, and Head of Life Sciences R&D Consulting at Wipro.

I have led technology and consulting portfolios of over $500 million and globally distributed organizations of up to 2,200 professionals. At Morgan Stanley, I led global platforms supporting a large investment management business and more than 25,000 users across sales, marketing, operations, compliance, and legal.

My work combines enterprise scale leadership with hands-on architecture and product development across AI and machine learning, regulated platforms, cloud native systems, data and integration, and large scale modernization. Industry experience includes financial services, insurance, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, telecom, energy, and consumer products.
