Solid, well-done story. Every episode felt good and peaceful. The microcosmic, eternal, family drama would have been entertaining enough for me. However, this precious time-capsule hints at macroscopic change.
This series made me realize how far ahead of their time the designs for Kenzo Tange's 1964 Tokyo Olympic Stadium and Yusaku Kamekura's poster for the Tokyo Olympics truly were. If you watch carefully, such 'modern' images appear sometimes in the series background.
It is hard to believe that Japan's Shinkansen is 50 years old!
This series will appeal to history buffs. If you are interested in this time period, I also highly recommend seeing Kon Ichikawa's terrific documentary, _Tokyo Olympiad_.
