Our first game of this year in our club was 20mm Rapid Fire game. Colin Jack prepared something unusual, and we had chance to use his Romanian and Hungarian collections. Unfortunately this collection is very old and Colin was not able to tell me about the source of his figures and models. If anybody recognize the manufacturers of this models, I'm interested specially in Hungarians, please let me know.
Nasza pierwsza gra tego roku w naszym klubie to gra wg zasad Rapid Fire w skali 20mm. Colin Jack przygotował coś niecodziennego i mieliśmy okazję wykorzystać jego rumuńską i węgierską kolekcję. Niestety są one bardzo stare i Colin nie był w stanie już sobie przypomnieć o źródła jej pochodzenia. Jeśli więc rozpoznajesz producentów tych modeli, w szczególności Węgrów, którymi jestem bardzo zainteresowany, proszę dajcie mi o tym znać.

1. Intro. Wprowadzenie.
1945. After the coup d'état of the young Romanian king Michael and changing the sides, Romania become the part of the Allies. Their army took the part in Soviet offensive in Hungary in 1945. In our game Romanian regiment strengthened with some armoured forces have to take control over the small town and very important crossroad. They know, that Hungarians have the same orders, so the fight will be very hard.
Rok 1945. Po udanym zamachu stanu młodego rumuńskiego króla Michała i zmianie stron, Rumunia dołączyła do Aliantów. Ich armia wzięła udział w sowieckiej ofensywie na Węgry w 1945 roku. W naszej grze rumuński pułk, wzmocniony oddziałami pancernymi ma za zadanie opanować miasto i bardzo ważne skrzyzowanie. Wiadomym jest, że Węgrzy mają podobne rozkazy, zapowiada się więc, bardzo zacięta walka.

3. The game. Gra.
Game started with both sides run to the town. Romanians were much quicker and they took the defending positions in the buildings.
Gra rozpoczęła się od wyścigu obu stron do miasta. Szybsi okazali się Rumuni i to oni zajęli pozycje obronne w mieście.
Hungarians started the siege of the town. After the heavy fights Hungarians managed to recapture two buildings. Romanians tryed to stop Hungarians with their tanks, but they were very ineffective this time.
Węgrzy rozpoczęli oblężenie miasta. Po ciężkich walkach Węgrzy odzyskali dwa budynki. Rumuni próbowali przeciwdziałać temu swoimi czołgami, jednak były one bardzo nieefektywne tym razem.
On the outskirts of the town were fought two armoured battles. In the first Romanian Panzer IVs fought against Hungarian Zrinyis and in the second Hungarian Turans fought against Tacams later supported by Panzer IV. In the first battle Hungarians push back Romanians, but still the situation not looked very clear over there. On the other side, Turans destroyed Tacams and Panzer IV and took control over the south part of the town.
Na obrzeżach miasta rozegrały się dwie bitwy pancerne. W pierwszej rumuńskie Panzer IV zmierzyły się z węgierskimi Zrinyi i w drugiej węgierskie Turany walczyły przeciwko Tacamom wzmocnionymi później przez Panzer IV. W pierwszej bitwie Węgrzy zmusili Rumunów do wycofania się, jednak sytuacja nie była tu jeszcze jasna, w drugiej natomiast Turany zniszczyły Tacamy i Panzer IV i przejęły kontrolę nad południową częścią miasta.
Then arrived Hungarian plane, He 70. His bombs cleared the situation in the north part of the town and Romanians lost last tanks. Now half of the town was in Romanian hand and the other in Hungarian, but Hungarians still had their tanks. The first Hungarian try of assaulting building failed, and they started systematic firing of the Romanian positions to soften them up. However, finally arrived the Romanian aircraft, and pushed back Hungarian, but was to late, and this game was won by Hungarians.
Wtedy przybył węgierski samolot, He 70. Jego bomby wyjaśniły sytuację na północy miasta i Rumuni stracili swoje ostatnie czołgi. Teraz połowa miasta była w rękach rumuńskich a druga w węgierskich, jednakże Madziarzy cały czas posiadali swoje czołgi. Pierwsza węgierska próba zdobycia budynków szturmem nie udała się, w związku z czym rozpoczęli oni systematyczny ostrzał rumuńskich pozycji celem zmiękczenia ich. Wtedy tez przybył rumuński samolot, który przegonił węgierski, jednak było już za późno i tą grę wygrali Węgrzy.
4. Summary. Podsumowanie.
As a great fan of the Rapid Fire rules and the Eastern Front, that game was something great to me. Finally I had the opportunity to check Colin's Hungarian collection, and get some ideas for my troops (I finally decided to buy the Revell German Late WW1, and create from them Hungarian infantry regiment). For this game Colin bring to the club the second supplement for the Rapid Fire rulebook. I'm talking about "A comprehensive guide to the basic organisations fighting of the Russian Front (including German, Romanian, Hungarian, Italian, Slovakian, Finish and Soviet units)".This supplement is right now very hard to buy, as it is out of print, so finally I was able to take a look at this position and I hope that one day I will get my copy too. As for this game both sides suffer becouse of the inefficiency of their troops, Romanians with their tanks, Hungarians with their infantry. Anyway it was great night. For the next games we had agreed D-Day Bolt Action game at Hugh, and Muskets and Tomahawks French Indian War in two weeks time in the club.
Jako wielki fan zasad
Rapid Fire i frontu wschodniego, ta gra to było cos naprawde wspaniałego dla mnie. W końcu miałem sposobność obejrzenia węgierskiej kolekcji Colina, która dała mi pewne pomysły na wygląd moich oddziałów (w końcu zdecydowałem się zakupić zestaw Revella Niemców z późniego okresu IWŚ i przerobienia ich na węgierski pułk piechoty). Na tą grę Colin przyniósł również drugi dodatek do podręcznika
Rapid Fire. Mowa tu o "
A comprehensive guide to the basic organisations fighting of the Russian Front (including German, Romanian, Hungarian, Italian, Slovakian, Finish and Soviet units)". Nakład tego podręcznika jest obecnie wyczerpany i obecnie jest bardzo ciężko go zakupić. Miałem więc okazje przejrzeć go i mam nadzieję, ze już wkrótce również i ja stanę się posiadaczem mojej kopii. Co do tej gry, to obie strony musiały się zmierzyć z nieskutecznością swoich sił, Rumuni swoich czołgów, Węgrzy swojej piechoty. Mimo tego był to naprawdę udany wieczór. Co do następnych gier, to uzgodniliśmy że za tydzień u Hugha będzie D-Day przy użyciu zasad
Bolt Action a za dwa tygodnie
