|As a former educator, progressive clergy, and a member of our community, I believe in the goodness of people. Working hard, serving our community, listening and learning from the experiences of others, standing with those who are suffering, and being unafraid to do the right thing are values that I aspire to every single day. To borrow a phrase from Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
My wife, Stacey, and I are proud to live in West Fort Collins with our three children, Liam (8th grade), Jude (6th grade) and Lila (3rd grade). All three children proudly attend school in the Poudre School District, and enjoy sports, biking, and hanging out with their cousins and friends. Stacey works for a software company located in Fort Collins. My favorite pastimes include boating and enjoying Horsetooth Reservoir, working on our next home renovation project, or enjoying a local microbrew on the back porch with friends and family.- Affordable Housing: I have been a champion for affordable housing while in office, having passed both SB22-160 and HB22-1287 in order to provide protections for mobile home park residents and to protect our state's largest source of unsubsidized affordable housing. I will continue to seek solutions that provide local governments with the tools they need in order to promote and protect affordable housing in our state.
- Health Care for Every Coloradan: I have long been a champion for Improved Medicare for All. Every Coloradan — regardless of age or income — should be covered by affordable comprehensive healthcare, including primary care, prescriptions, hospitalizations, reproductive health, mental and behavioral health (including inpatient treatment) services, dental, and specialty care. If re-elected, I will be bringing legislation in 2023 that seeks to provide health care coverage to every person in our state.
- Clean Air, Land, and Water: The realities of climate change are irrefutable. We must act now. I support measurable climate goals, protecting our rivers, and science-based policy which ensures that our water, air, and land will be preserved and protected for generations to come. I passed legislation in 2022 that will require an audit of oil and gas activity in our state - good policy comes from good data and I am committed to seeking solutions which mitigate the impacts of climate change.
These are the progressive values that I bring to the table – formed out of my years as a public school teacher and my work in the healthcare and non-profit sectors of our community.
I also serve on the State, Civic, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee. This committee has passed (and also voted down) several key measures related to our elections and gun violence prevention, among other areas of focus.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
