Space Ghost and Firestorm

Uh oh, Mr. Universe is back to menace the heroes of STF once again! This time though, he's facing one who has met him before - Firestorm battled him alongside Mar-Vell in STF #4735.  Hopefully that experience and the help of Space Ghost will give him an edge this time around.

Red Sonja and Amethyst

A new Red Sonja movie recently came and went without much of a whimper.  Did anyone actually catch it, and if so, was it any good?  The little I read about it did not sound very promising.

The Flash and Power Man

Uh oh!  You know it's a real Crisis when Barry Allen is smack dab in the middle of it!  But just how can a beat down on The Constrictor have world altering ramifications?  The answers are only sixty cents away!

Power Man met the Wally West Flash in STF #4825...

Captain Marvel and Howard the Duck

Captain Marvel is no stranger to talking animals as allies, and has his own roster of bizarre villains, so a team up with Howard The Duck wouldn't seem all that out of place for him.  I think that a writer could have a lot of fun telling this tale.

Doctor Fate and Clea

This cover was tricky to create, as I could not find a text-free version of the Amethyst cover that I wanted to use. Here's a look a the behind the scenes progress:

Conan and Arak

I wasn't really into Conan comics when I was a kid, I gravitated towards more superhero-related fare.  Still, I found myself checking out issues from time to time just because of the gorgeous artwork.  How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way turned me into a big fan of John Buscema, and seeing his pencils grace a story was always a treat.

Thank you to Brian C., a Patron of this blog, for suggesting this pairing!

Nightcrawler and Storm Join The Legion of Super-Heroes

A big part of the appeal of both the LSH and X-Men for me was the wide array of cool costumes their respective rosters were given.  Dave Cockrum was the artist responsible for many of the best outfits on both teams. Indeed,  Storm and Nightcrawlers' looks were adapted from unused Legionnaire designs of his, a bit of trivia that inspired me to make this cover.

The Defenders and Red Tornado

I liked the designation of Non-Team for The Defenders in the early years of the title.  It really fit - this was not a group of heroes that had regular meetings, assignments or monitor duty.  They didn't even have a formal headquarters, they just hung out at Dr. Strange's place.  Thrown together more by circumstance than choice, they were as likely to be battling each other as an outside force.  These non-traditional aspects made the group unpredictable, and fun to read about.

Amethyst and Martinex

Martinex is another character that I would love to see show up an a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. I just always thought that he looked really cool, and I imagine he would look even cooler in live action.  When folks asked for more Amethyst team ups, he was the first character I thought of.
