This is another cover that required a bit of prep work before I could add in any new elements.  Here is a look at the behind the scenes progress:

Man-Wolf and Adam Strange

 

The latest rumors making the rounds say that Adam Strange is coming to the DCU, with Will Poulter being considered for the role.  I've long thought that The Character was ripe for live action treatment, so I hope these reports are true.  The Krypton tv series featured Adam Strange as a character, but I'd like to see a version more faithful to the comics.

Space Cabbie and Man-Wolf

 

These two characters may have never hit the big time, but I always got a kick out of each of them.  It might be fun to watch them share an adventure together. Sure, maybe this issue would have collected dust on the spinner rack, but I'd probably have to pick it up, if just out of curiosity.

Man-Wolf and Jimmy Olsen

Man-Wolf was a great example of the crazy anything goes attitude that Marvel had in the 70's.  John Jameson went from being the son of a Spider-Man supporting character, to becoming a horror character, and then transformed into a cosmic hero, complete with a detailed George Perez outfit!  I guess sometimes you have to keep throwing a character at different walls and seeing when they stick!

Man-Wolf Vs. Swamp Thing

Justice League Dark is coming back in a new series, and I have to say I was amused at the slight redesign given to Swamp Thing.  He now has long flowing vines of "hair", making him look somewhat like famed Swamp Thing scribe Alan Moore - and it kind of works!  I wasn't crazy about the antlers he grew for a while a few years back, but this I can live with.

When it came to cover artists, there were two that always stood above the pack for me in their ability to sell a story with a single image.   To me, Gil Kane was the Marvel cover artist, and Nick Cardy was easily my favorite from DC.  Their talents were clearly recognized because they were used on covers spanning all types of genres, from superhero to western to horror and more.  I was glad to be able to use both of these legendary artists for today's entry.

The Demon and The Legion of Monsters

There's something cool about certain demonic heroes from Marvel and DC because they can be used as protagonists or antagonists in any given story.  Though they might be labeled heroes, their individual motivations and dispositions often put them at odds with more straight laced crimefighters.  Put a few of them togeher in one story and the real fireworks begin.  Will they save the day or just turn on each other?  Either way, it's fun to read about!

Batman and Man-Wolf

The Wolf Man was always my favorite of the classic movie monsters, so a character that merged a werewolf with a comic book hero/villain was an easy sell for me.  I was also quite taken by the "Mark of the Man-Wolf" Spider-Man comic book and record set from Power Records that I listened to countless times as a kid.  You would think that J. Jonah Jameson's son transforming into a super-powered creature would have softened his views against masked vigilantes,  but it only strengthened his stance.  I guess he wouldn't be the JJJ we all know and love if it were otherwise, though!   I haven't seen Man-Wolf show up in the Spider-Man titles in years, and I hope that changes soon.  He is one of Spidey's better under-used adversaries and I am sure there are more stories to tell featuring him.
