It's astonishing to me how little public dialog is occurring on the massive, ongoing energy disruption this is causing and what the likely effects will be. Have the Iranian's overplayed their hand in truing to make the Strait of Hormuz a political asset & income generator?

The 'closing' of the Strait, attacks on shipping & imposition of fees for transit have led to an expansion of projects to reduce the use of the Strait.

The latest is a new proposal from the UAE to build a port on its east coast to allow shipments to avoid the Strait altogether using road to move important & exports past the Strait.

I am and have been assuming that there will be preferential distribution to corporations (which obviously includes most freight) and least preference given to individuals trying to do their own work themselves - e.g., like RAM over the last several months. But I haven't thought about the price side of that.

Team,

When speaking about unusual or historic supply chain disruptions, it's common for those of us who have been in the business for a moment to reference situations from decades ago. But the truth is, if you've been with us for even a year, you've already worked through one major supplier loss and related re-branding.

If you've been with us for just a bit longer, you worked through one of the most difficult reshuffling of inventories and changes in sales flow in our company history during COVID.

That's why I'm not worried by what we're facing today. Preparation and the dedication of every one of our team members will see us through this just as you all did before.

So what new challenge are we facing?

In the interest of total transparency there's zero benefit in mincing words:
Due to the unfolding situation in the Middle East, we're facing the largest supply shortage of lubricating fluids in the modern history of America.

Realistic, middle-of-the-road estimates are for our average available supply in this product category to drop by 40%.

The sanctions are a direct response to his involvement in facilitating Iranian oil sales through Iraqi networks. According to the US Treasury, Al-Bahadly leveraged his official position to circumvent international restrictions. These actions enabled Iran to continue exporting oil despite existing sanctions. Washington is thus intensifying pressure on Tehran by disrupting illicit energy trade channels.
