The jaw you've clenched since November has a plant that answers it.
Bruise a scant teaspoon of culinary lavender between your fingers and steep it three minutes — no longer, or it turns to soap — in warm milk before bed. Lus na tùise, the herb of fragrance. The calm isn't folklore; it's linalool, easing the nervous system down off the ledge.

"Protecting outdoor workers from extreme heat is easy, and in most cases, inexpensive. Requiring employers to provide workers with cool #water and periodic shaded #rest breaks could prevent at least 50,000 injuries and illnesses a year."
“There’s often a perception that people from hot countries are able to deal with hot temperatures. It’s just simply untrue. It’s a racist belief that underpinned slavery that we still see in our agricultural system now.”

I created an issue on the plugin's GitHub about removing the MCP functionality into a separate plugin, and the maintainer immediately converted it into a discussion, which is here: https://github.com/coddingtonbear/obsidian-local-rest-api/discussions/272
I'm getting the impression from all the LLM-related discussions and commits that this is a lost cause and I'll probably have to fork this plugin if I want an MCP-free version of it. Looks like they took up slop coding earlier this year too, which is another area of concern.

Good morning. 😴⏰☕
27 April 2026
I really need to get moving, but I’m in a full‑blown Monday‑morning mood. You know the one—when you just sit there staring into space. The truth is, I don’t actually need Monday for that; I can manage it on pretty much any day of the week. I do try to keep my mouth closed during these Monday‑morning trances, because staring off into nothing with your jaw hanging open isn’t a great look. There’s always the risk of a little dribble sneaking out of the corner, too. That’s just… well… yuck. Especially if you’re at work or out in public. Luckily, I don’t go to work anymore, and I’m not out in public much, so most of my staring is done from my recliner. If I kick back, it just looks like I’m resting. And if I close my eyes… well… everyone’s fooled. 💤
When I do lean back with my eyes closed, my dog Charlie usually curls up on the end of the couch and joins me in his own version of the Monday‑morning trance. But if I risk even a tiny glance in his direction, I’ll often catch him staring right at me. I have to be careful with that maneuver, because the slightest eye‑flutter is his signal that it’s time to get up and get moving. The moment he thinks I’m awake, he jumps down and becomes relentless in his campaign to get me on my feet. At that point, he’s ready to go outside. His patience is almost absolute—right up until he notices the smallest twitch. Then it’s time to sound the alarm: Get up, get up, it’s time to go. He says all of that without actual words, of course. Still, I understand him perfectly. 🐶

As most of you know I’ve been struggling with a serious chronic illness flare up and a housing crisis all at once … it’s caused me to have a difficult time putting out newsletters.
I call this the chronic illness disappearing act.
I vanish from life.
I cease being able to cope.
Things that usually bring me joy start to cause stress and exhaustion.
The brain fog becomes too hard to push through.
The pain and fatigue goes from manageable to crushing and unrelenting.
It’s breaking my heart.
Writing is my reason for existing and this community means the world to me.
When I first took a step back I figured it would be for a week at most.
In reality I’ve barely published anything this year.
I feel guilt and shame and anger.
I’m terrified that my body won’t do this one thing I want it to do so badly.
But whenever I try and push it, the setback is more severe than the one before.
So I’m trying to learn patience. I’m striving to give myself grace. I’m counting on my community to understand and still be here for me whenever I come back.
I feel like a ghost of my former self… but I know it’ll be temporary.
I’m getting close to solutions on the housing front.
I’ve got big ideas for future articles.
I’m reading and commenting on other people’s pieces again.
I’m getting there, one baby step at a time.
If you’re struggling, please remember it’s ok to prioritize rest. It’s ok to slow down. It’s ok to stop completely.
You are not a failure for listening to your body.
I’m not a failure for publishing less.
I’m a survivor.
We are all survivors.
I hope to be publishing again soon but even if I’m not… it’s ok. I will get there eventually!
