trusted MCP servers for marketing analytics.
Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers give an AI agent live access to your marketing stack. This page covers what they are, which ones to trust with an ad account, how they compare to data connectors, and what Cogny’s own MCP server reaches.
Cogny: 72 integrations, 1,378 tools, each one listed publicly with whether it reads, writes or deletes. Every write is logged, and the changes your AI ships are measured and closed with a verdict.
What is a trusted MCP server for marketing analytics?
A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server gives an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT live, tool-by-tool access to a marketing platform: Google Ads, Meta, GA4, Shopify and the like. A trusted one signs you in with OAuth per platform, publishes every tool it offers with whether it reads, writes or deletes, logs every write with who authorised it, and lets you block any tool you don't want an agent to use.
How do I judge whether a marketing MCP is trustworthy?
Check four things before you connect an ad account. Does it use OAuth for each platform instead of one shared API key? Is every tool listed publicly and marked read, write or destructive? Is every write logged with the tool, the time and who authorised it? Can you block a tool so it is refused? Cogny publishes all 1,378 of its tools at cogny.com/integrations/tools.
definition
what is MCP?
Model Context Protocol is an open standard, introduced by Anthropic in November 2024, for how an AI agent connects to outside tools and data. One protocol, any compatible client, any compatible server.
In marketing, an MCP server sits in front of a platform such as Google Ads. When the agent needs campaign data, it calls one of the server's tools. The server turns that into an API call with your own credentials, fetches the result and hands it back in the same turn. No export, no stale copy.
Live data
The platform's API is called when the agent asks, so the numbers are as fresh as the platform's own.Read and write
Where a server has write tools, the same connection that reads a campaign can change it.One client, many servers
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex can each use several MCP servers in one conversation.
That is why the question has moved from "can my agent reach Google Ads?" to "which MCP server do I trust with it?"
the landscape
marketing MCPs by category.
What each kind of server connects, and what an agent typically does with it.
| Category | Examples | What the agent does with it |
|---|---|---|
| Ad platforms | Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, Bing Ads | Reads spend and conversions by campaign; changes budgets, bids, keywords and status |
| Analytics | GA4, Search Console, Matomo, Plausible, Mixpanel | Funnel drop-off, organic queries and pages, the outcome a change is judged on |
| CRM and pipeline | Pipedrive, Upsales, HubSpot Forms | Ties campaigns to deals instead of clicks |
| E-commerce | Shopify, WooCommerce | Orders and revenue to check ad-reported returns against |
| Email and retention | Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Brevo | Flow and campaign results, segments, list health |
| Site and tags | WordPress, Webflow, Google Tag Manager | Page fixes, metadata, tag audits against GA4 |
trust
how to evaluate an MCP server.
Six questions to ask before an agent gets write access to an ad account.
| Criterion | Good sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | OAuth per platform, revocable one integration at a time | One account-wide API key; revoking it cuts every connection |
| Tool list | Every tool published, marked read, write or destructive | Tools only visible after you connect, or descriptions that change silently |
| Write log | Each write recorded: tool, time, result, who authorised it | No record of what the server was asked to do |
| Control | Any tool can be blocked and is then refused | All or nothing |
| Data handling | Results not stored or cached; a stated region; a DPA with subprocessors | Unclear storage, no DPA |
| Maintenance | Vendor-maintained, fixes shipped to every customer | An unmaintained community project |
Cogny on each: OAuth or an API key per integration; every tool at cogny.com/integrations/tools; every write logged with the tool, the time, success or failure and who authorised the connection (request and response contents are not stored); any tool can be set to blocked; the MCP server does not store or cache query results; platform data is stored in the EU under the DPA.
compared
MCP vs data connectors vs BI tools.
| MCP server | Data connector | BI tool | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freshness | Live API call when the agent asks | As fresh as the last scheduled sync | As fresh as the warehouse |
| Can act | Yes, through write tools | No, read only | No, dashboards |
| Questions in plain words | Yes, the agent picks the tool | No, you pick fields in a UI | Sometimes, over the warehouse |
| Across platforms | The agent reads several in one turn | One table per source; joins need SQL | Yes, but nobody acts on it |
| Setup | Sign in per platform | Field mapping and load schedules | A data model before the first chart |
| History | What the platform's API returns | Kept in your warehouse | Kept in your warehouse |
They are not exclusive. If you need years of governed history, keep a connector into a warehouse; Cogny Cloud includes a BigQuery warehouse. More in Windsor.ai vs Supermetrics vs Funnel for AI agents.
cogny
one MCP server, the whole stack, every change measured.
72 integrations
1,378 tools in all, across ads, analytics, search, e-commerce, email, CRM and CMS. One connection from your AI reaches every integration you connected.Your AI or the Cogny app
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex connect to one endpoint. Or use Cogny's own agent in the app, by chat or by voice.A ledger of writes
Every write is logged. Launches and budget, bid, status, keyword and targeting changes become measured tickets on their own; your AI offers to register anything else.A verdict on each change
Measured in your own data 3 days later for ads and 7 for content and SEO, then closed as worked, partial, didn't work or inconclusive.
For an agency: a workspace per client, each with its own connections, its own tickets and its own log. There is no shared multi-client dashboard. Solo, Cogny AI and Cogny Pro are single-seat; a team that shares client workspaces needs Cloud.

questions.
How do MCP servers differ from data connectors like Supermetrics or Fivetran?
A data connector copies platform data on a schedule into a spreadsheet, BI tool or warehouse, and an AI then reads that copy. An MCP server lets the AI call the platform's API directly at the moment it asks, and, where the server has write tools, change something through the same connection. Keep a connector when you need governed history in a warehouse; use MCP when the agent should read live data and act.
Which marketing platforms can Cogny's MCP server reach?
72 integrations with 1,378 tools across ads, analytics, search, e-commerce, email, CRM and CMS, among them Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, GA4, Search Console, Shopify, Klaviyo and WordPress. Each one has a public page listing every tool and whether it reads, writes or is destructive. Any other remote MCP server can be added by URL.
Can an MCP server change my ad platform?
Yes, if the server has write tools. Through Cogny an agent can change budgets, bids, keywords, statuses and targeting, or launch a campaign or an ad. From your own AI client, that client is the approval step: it asks before running a tool that changes something, and Cogny does not hold the call for a second approval. In the Cogny app, write tools ask first by default. A blocked tool is refused either way.
How do I evaluate an MCP server for GDPR?
Ask where the vendor processes and stores data, whether the MCP server keeps copies of query results, what it logs and for how long, and whether it is covered by a data processing agreement with a published subprocessor list. Cogny AB is a Swedish company; platform data is stored in the EU, the MCP server does not store or cache query results, and the DPA is at cogny.com/terms/dpa.
What does Cogny cost for MCP access?
Free is $0 with 15 MCP calls a month, no card. Solo is $9 a month with MCP unmetered under fair use, the same on Cogny AI ($18, 150 credits a month) and Cogny Pro ($90, 1,500 credits). Cloud is $499 a month with 5,000 credits, for teams. Every paid plan can connect every integration.
connect one platform. read every tool.
Free needs no card. Connect a platform and your AI sees the exact tool list in its own client.
