Retro Halloween Box

Hello crafty friends ~

I've been sitting on these Tim Holtz costume boxes for way too long. These came out a few years ago and I just loved the vintage / retro graphics.  He had a line of Christmas boxes as well, which I've used in the past, and I still have some.  What can I say.... I just love everything vintage!

Anywho... This image from Crafty Secrets (also ages old) was sitting in my stash and I thought, how perfectly they go together.  The pumpkins are from Pretty Little Studio.  I just adore their line of vintage die cuts.

If you peek into the box, you'll see I used some wild polka dotted paper to line the box with, and I added some cheese cloth behind the trio of trick-or-treaters.  This adds a layer of texture and softness.

I remember having so much fun coming up with our own ideas for creating costumes for Halloween.  Very rarely did our costumes come in a box.  They came from our imagination.  Those were the days.

I think I'll add this project to the following challenges:

Just For Fun ~ "O" is for Owl

Hello friends~
I was rummaging through my project photo's on my computer and I came across this altered child's block I made quite a while ago and never shared.  Just throwing it out there, just for fun, since it's kind of fitting for this season.

I've used these old child's blocks for many an altered project in the past.

The owl and pumpkin image is from Pretty Little Studio.  I backed him up with a crepe paper medallion.

A bit of moss and a tissue paper ruffle along the bottom gives this little guy a soft place to land.

I think it's pretty cute and retro.

I'll be adding this project to the following challenges:

Halloween Colors ~ DD

Hello my friends~  The gals at DD Challenges are at it again.  A new challenge just posted with the theme "Halloween Colors".

I couldn't resist using this "Pup-kin" die from Spellbinders to make another fun halloween card.

The sentiment is "Lavish Happy Halloween" by Poppystamps.  I cut the words out of black and backed them with the shadow die using vellum.

This cute little pup is mounted onto rectangles cut using Spellbinders Pinking Edge Birthday Add-Ons.

If you head on over to Double D Challenges, you'll see more amazing inspiration from the design team.

Trick Or Treat ~ DD Challenges

Happy October everyone!  Double D Challenges is starting a new challenge and the theme is "Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat".  What's more fun to eat than chocolate?

I decided to make up two tussy mussies using some old cardboard cones I've had sitting in my craft stash for far too long.  It was time to put them to use.

I covered them with design paper and added a tissue paper fringe to the top edge of each cone.  I threaded some wire through for a hanger and tied a strip of black toulle for a bow.

The images were printed on my printer and fussy cut.  I then made a tissue paper medallion to attach the image to and glued the medallions to the front of each cone.  Fill them with paper shred and treats and oua-la!  A cute halloween treat!

I added a circle of toulle to the medallion on this one, to add a bit more texture.  I think I like the other one better.

Which one do you like?  The owl or the pussy cat?

I do hope you'll pop in at DD Challenges to see more fun creations from my talented team mates

Rent-A-Cat

Hello friends ~ In the course of trying to use up printed papers from my vast paper stash, I recreated a card design from June.  You can see the original post here
I was able to use up printed papers that have been sitting idle for many years.  To be honest, I don't even recall what company they were from as they were already cut into.  If these papers look familiar and you know the company, let me know in the comments.  I'll edit this post to give credit where due.

I recycled a piece of cardboard packaging from Tim Holtz, as you can see on the message panel.  That is one of his signature designs you can find in his ephemera packages.  I cut it using an old Spellbinders Label die, stamped a message and added a black kitty sticker from Simple Stories.  The pumpkin sticker is from the same pack.

Lots of stars were added for a magical, finishing touch.  I wish I could remember where this printed paper came from.  It was filled with funny Halloween ads and the quality is heavy weight and textured.  A dream to cut and work with.

You can see another great advertisement on the back of the card for Esmeralda's Monster Cream.  I might need to add that to my nightly skin care routine.  (wink)

This card turned out super fun!  I hope you enjoyed your visit today.
I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:
