A Chrome extension that enhances the YouTube browsing experience by giving you control over the layout and appearance.

Features

  • Custom Thumbnail Size: Adjust the size of video thumbnails to your preference
  • Shorts Management: Choose how YouTube Shorts appear in your feed:
    • Hide Shorts: Remove Shorts completely from your feed
    • Grid Layout: Transform Shorts into a clean grid layout like regular videos
    • Default: Keep YouTube's original horizontal scrolling Shorts layout
  • Enhanced UI: Beautiful card-style thumbnails with hover effects
  • Customizable: In-page slider option for quick thumbnail size adjustments

Installation

From Chrome Web Store

Manual Installation

  1. Download the latest release from the Releases page
  2. Unzip the file
  3. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions
  4. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner
  5. Click "Load unpacked" and select the unzipped folder
  6. The extension icon should now appear in your toolbar

Usage

  1. Navigate to YouTube.com
  2. Click on the YouTube Layout Fixer icon in your browser toolbar
  3. Use the slider to adjust thumbnail size
  4. Select your preferred Shorts display mode from the dropdown
  5. Toggle in-page slider if you want quick access to size adjustments directly on the page

YouTube Layout Fixer respects your privacy:

  • No data collection or tracking
  • All settings stored locally in your browser
  • No external server connections

Development

Prerequisites

  • Google Chrome or Chromium-based browser
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Local Setup

  1. Clone this repository
git clone https://github.com/yourusername/youtube-layout-fixer.git
cd youtube-layout-fixer
  1. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions
  2. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner
  3. Click "Load unpacked" and select the repository folder
  4. Make changes to the code and click the reload icon on the extension card to see changes
