Notable changes

  • React DOM now batches suspense boundary reveals, matching the behavior of client side rendering. This change is especially noticeable when animating the reveal of Suspense boundaries e.g. with the upcoming <ViewTransition> Component. React will batch as much reveals as possible before the first paint while trying to hit popular first-contentful paint metrics.
  • Add Node Web Streams (prerender, renderToReadableStream) to server-side-rendering APIs for Node.js
  • Use underscore instead of : IDs generated by useId

Blocked — do not merge as-is.

This PR bumps react-dom to 19.2.6 but leaves react at 18.3.1. The resulting lockfile pairs react-dom@19.2.6 (which peer-requires react@^19.2.6) with react@18.3.1 — a mismatched pair that breaks at runtime. Dependabot can't fix this because react is a separate direct dependency outside this update group.

React 19 needs to land as a deliberate, coordinated migration:

  • react + react-dom + @types/react + @types/react-dom bumped together
  • styled-components 5.x → 6.x (5.x is unmaintained and predates React 19)
  • Review of React 19 breaking changes against the codebase, full test/build gate, and live dev-server verification

Leaving this open as the tracking reminder until that migration is scheduled.
