What is 1337?

1337 is a coding school in Morocco that focuses on learning through practice and collaboration. It is based on the peer-to-peer learning model, meaning students learn not only from teachers or courses, but also from each other.

The Piscine is an important part of 1337. It is an intensive period where students learn programming, problem-solving, teamwork, and how to learn independently.

πŸ›£οΈ The Road to 1337

  1. Register: Register to 1337 website. πŸ”—Here

  2. Online tests: complete the initial selection test (About 2 hours).

  3. Check-in: The check-in is basically your first real contact with 1337. They introduce you to the school, explain their educational philosophy and how the system works, so you can understand what you're getting into.

  4. Pool/Piscine: The Piscine is the 4-week intensive selection period. For about one month, including weekends, you work on programming projects and exercises. You submit your work, evaluate other students' work, meet other candidates, and learn through practice.

  5. Selection: if you are selected you can complete your journey of learning and coding as a student of 1337 school.

🧠 What I Learned from the Piscine

Tip

  • The Piscine is not just about learning the C programming language and shell commands. Yes, these are important parts of it, but they are not everything.

  • I learned how to learn by myself and how to find information when I don't know something. I learned how to share my knowledge with others. I learned how to think, solve problems, and organize my thinking.

  • I also learned that Norminette and Moulinette are not my enemies. πŸ˜„ They are part of the learning process and helped me become more careful with my code. ‼️ And the failure is part of the process.

  • And, of course, I had fun along the way.

  • The Piscine taught me not only how to code, but also how to learn, how to think, and how to keep going when I don't know the answer.

πŸ“¦ Why This Repo?

First of all, I am sharing my work from the Piscine to archive it as one of the best parts of my journey in Computer Science.

I also want to contribute to the open-source community by sharing my solutions to some of the problems I worked on.

However, everyone should make their own solutions. The goal is not to copy the code, but to learn, understand the problems, and find your own way to solve them.
