DATAMIND

DATAMIND is the UK’s Health Data Research Hub for Mental Health. Our goal is to unlock the full potential of the UK’s rich mental health data to support coordinated research and improve mental health care.

We aim to change how the NHS, researchers, charities, and industry share and use existing information safely, securely, and responsibly. Covering all four UK nations, we offer a central infrastructure with 📋 data, 🔧 tools, and 📑 guidance to transform how mental health research is done.

DATAMIND-UK

DATAMIND-UK is DATAMIND’s official GitHub Organisation account. The term organisation comes from GitHub’s lexicon and refers to the type of GitHub account, and not to DATAMIND’s structural organisation as a Hub (team, partners, etc). Therefore, it is important to differentiate between DATAMIND-UK (GitHub Organisation account) and DATAMIND (the Hub itself).

DATAMIND-UK's mission

DATAMIND-UK aims to bring together a community of researchers and developers working in (or simply interested on) mental health data science, while fostering discussion, collaboration and open science. This space is open to anyone—whether you’re embedded in DATAMIND, part of a partner institution, or simply interested in mental health data science.

Why join DATAMIND-UK?

You can find general information about GitHub Organisations here. However, some of the main benefits we would like to highlight are:

Connect with the community: Join discussions, issues, or teams to share ideas and feedback—even if you're not leading a project. As a listed member, your interest is visible and others can easily connect with you.

Early access: Get notified when new tools, datasets, and research code are released. Access resources before they’re widely shared, and stay ahead of the curve in mental health data science.

Learn by observing real-world projects: Explore live, open-source projects from active researchers and developers. See how others manage code, document projects, structure collaboration—all great for learning best practices.

Shape the direction of mental health data science: Your voice matters. Whether you're a researcher, developer, clinician, or person with lived experience, joining DATAMIND-UK means being part of the conversation right from the kitchen—where collaboration, code, and change begins.

Support open mental health data science: Open science needs more than code! User testing, documentation writing, design input, or community support are all valuable contributions.

Why contribute to DATAMIND-UK?

Some of the reasons to host your projects in DATAMIND-UK instead of—or in addition to—your personal GitHub account are:

Visibility: Share your work with a focused community of mental health data scientists and stakeholders.

Open science: Make your work more accessible, reusable, and impactful.

Collaboration: Connect with others who can support or enhance your project.

Flexible hosting: Host your projects here or link to them elsewhere—your choice.

Structured collaboration: Manage access and roles easily using GitHub Teams.
