Install

Option 1: Download Release (Recommended)

Download the latest DMG from Releases and drag to Applications.

Option 2: Build Locally (No Developer Account Required)

For local development or testing without an Apple Developer account:

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/Ruczhutao/claude-island.git
cd claude-island

# Build with local signing
./scripts/build-local.sh

# The DMG will be created at:
# releases/AgentIsland-x.x.x-local.dmg

First Launch: Right-click the app → Open → Open (to bypass Gatekeeper for unsigned local builds).

Option 3: Xcode Build (Development)

# Open in Xcode
open ClaudeIsland.xcodeproj

# Or build via command line
xcodebuild -scheme ClaudeIsland -configuration Release build

How It Works

Agent Island installs hooks into each CLI's config directory:

  • ~/.claude/hooks/ for Claude Code
  • ~/.codex/hooks/ for Codex CLI
  • ~/.kimi/hooks/ for Kimi CLI
  • ~/.cursor/hooks.json for Cursor (3.0+)
  • ~/.gemini/settings.json for Gemini CLI
  • ~/.qwen/settings.json for Qwen

Hooks communicate session state via a Unix socket (/tmp/claude-island.sock). The app listens for events and displays them in the notch overlay.

Sound Effects

Three 8-bit retro sound effects included:

  • Session Start — New CLI session detected
  • Need Approval — Tool execution waiting for permission
  • Task Complete — AI finished responding

Plus 13 macOS system sounds available. Custom MP3s are hot-reloaded from the app's Sounds directory—no restart required.

Analytics

Agent Island uses Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage data:

  • App Launched — App version, build number, macOS version
  • Session Started — When a new CLI session is detected

No personal data or conversation content is collected.
