Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to The PR prevents cmux prompt functions from leaking into child Bash processes, but it also adds a test-time Homebrew installation that can depend on live package repositories and cache initialization that may expose partial files or lack expected devbox seed data. It is mergeable with explicit owner awareness or follow-up on these bounded CI and shell-startup risks. Suggested reviewers: 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 13 | ❌ 2❌ Failed checks (2 warnings)

Full details: Linked Issues checkExplanation The bootstrap clears the PROMPT_COMMAND export attribute with an export -n command. The regression coverage exercises Bash 3.2 and newer Bash integration paths and verifies that nested shells do not inherit invalid prompt functions. The combined diff from the parent before the first PR commit contains no production Swift files, so it cannot add or move an expensive synchronous Swift agent-history load onto the main actor or an interactive path. Full details: Cmux Cache Substitution CorrectnessExplanation PASS: The PR changes Bash, Python tests, YAML workflow, and a Bash-based devbox template. It does not change production Swift, TypeScript, or JavaScript. The added ble.sh cache seeding is not a fresh-read substitution in a persistence, history, undo, or snapshot path; it also handles missing destinations and destinations older than init-term.sh. Fresh CI run 34318262941 passes the focused Bash regression, web checks, GhosttyKit check, security checks, and review checks. Its workflow-guard-tests fails on two pre-existing sleep-then-assert findings in Packages/Shared/CMUXMobileCore/Tests/CMUXMobileCoreTests/CmxRetryAfterPolicyTests.swift:70,77; linux-preflight, tests, and the current CI ci-status are consequent failures. The latest origin/main commit removed the unrelated MobileTerminalLaneCoordinator finding, but these two retry-policy findings remain on the base branch and are outside this PR's diff. This PR does not weaken or allowlist the determinism gate and does not add unrelated mobile changes. The two Vercel contexts (cmux41, cmux166) remain pending deployment statuses.
The PR is open, commit-level mergeable, and current with origin/main, but blocked by the repository baseline determinism failure and pending Vercel contexts. No merge was performed while required checks were failing.

Since manaflow-ai#11524 the whole cmuxTests target failed to build in test-e2e.yml, so no unit test in the target could run (seen on https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux/actions/runs/33707324236). Hook store behavior is covered by the CLI-binary harness tests (ClaudeHookLiveDeliveryTargetTests and friends); a direct persistence test needs to go through that harness. (cherry picked from commit b422e3f) * cloud: clear the three main-actor isolation warnings manaflow-ai#11421 left over budget tests-build-and-lag has been red since manaflow-ai#11421: finishedUserInfoKey referenced from the notification observer's Sendable closure, and .shared used as a default argument (default values evaluate in a nonisolated context) in MachinesPanelViewModel.init and NewMachineSheetPresenter.presentNewMachine. The string constant becomes nonisolated; the default arguments become optional and resolve to .shared inside the main-actor bodies. Verified on a fleet builder: cmux-unit build-for-testing succeeds with zero warnings in these files. No behavior change; explicit-coordinator callers (tests) unchanged. Summary
Clear the export attribute from cmux's bootstrap PROMPT_COMMAND after Bash integrations load so child shells do not inherit function names. The regression harness runs real Bash 3.2 and newer Bash integrations plus a nested interactive shell. The branch also includes the minimal merged-main compatibility updates needed for the CI test target to compile.
The failing regression test was committed first, followed by the production fix.

Fixes #11257 by clearing the export bit on
PROMPT_COMMANDincmux-bash-bootstrap.bashafter Ghostty and cmux integrations install their prompt hooks, so nested bash shells no longer inherit function names they cannot run.Adds
tests/test_issue_11257_prompt_command_export.py, which drives the real bootstrap and integrations on both macOS Bash 3.2 and a newer Bash, asserts the parent shell keeps_cmux_prompt_commandwithout an exportedPROMPT_COMMAND, and checks a nested interactive child for no "command not found" noise. CI runs that test on the focused app-host shard (installs Homebrewbashwhen needed). Also includes small test-only updates for main compatibility: chunked-sleep expectations in
CmxRetryAfterPolicyTests, keyed lookup for post-teardown restore monitors, and safer detached mock-socket setup in coderouter CLI tests when the CLI is not expected to connect.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 2ed3d75. Bugbot is set up for automated code reviews on this repo. Configure here.
