What Problem This Solves

Keeps generated native app locales synchronized without bypassing protected-branch checks.

Why This Change Was Made

The Native App Locale Refresh workflow generated this update from 331d6b7f686171fef54e3fe229474ef2095586be and published it through a reviewable automation branch.

User Impact

No direct user-facing change beyond refreshed translations.

ClawSweeper review

What this changes

Refreshes native translation artifacts and the macOS string catalog to match the current Connection window and diagnostic labels.

Merge readiness

✅ Ready for maintainer review

Keep open under the generated-locale publisher policy. Current main still lacks these catalog entries, and inspection found no actionable patch defect.

Likely related people: Peter Steinberger is a routing candidate based on recent macOS and localization work.

Priority: P3

Review scores

Measure Result What it means
Overall readiness 🐚 platinum hermit (4/6) A focused generated refresh with consistent source mappings and no actionable correctness or security findings.
Proof confidence 🌊 off-meta tidepool Not applicable: This repository-managed bot refresh is exempt from contributor runtime proof; catalog consistency and the reported native-i18n check support validation, without claiming native rendering proof.
Patch quality 🐚 platinum hermit (4/6) No actionable review findings were identified.

Verification

Check Result Evidence
Real behavior Not applicable Not applicable: This repository-managed bot refresh is exempt from contributor runtime proof; catalog consistency and the reported native-i18n check support validation, without claiming native rendering proof.
Evidence reviewed 7 items Canonical publisher ownership: The supplied GitHub snapshot identifies openclaw-mantis[bot] and automation/native-app-locale-refresh targeting main. The repository workflow publishes that exact branch after generating and validating locale artifacts; the review policy explicitly keeps these publisher-managed PRs open.
Complete semantic delta inspected: Read-only JSON comparisons of the pinned base and head found 24 added and 28 removed macOS catalog keys, with no modified retained entries. Each of the 21 locale artifacts adds 23 translations and removes 28, without changing retained translations or metadata. Every added translation matches its exact source-key catalog value; inventory membership and checked format tokens had no discrepancies.
Refresh remains useful on current main: Comparing the catalog at fetched main with the introduced additions showed all 24 added keys remain absent there. The source inventory maps those additions to existing macOS interface call sites, while none of the removed keys remains in the macOS inventory.
Findings None None.
Security None None.

How this fits together

OpenClaw’s native localization pipeline combines extracted interface strings with locale translations to generate Apple string catalogs. The macOS app uses those catalogs to display translated interface text.

Technical review

Best possible solution:

Keep native translations synchronized through the existing inventory and catalog generator, with freshness and landing owned by the generated-PR publisher.

Do we have a high-confidence way to reproduce the issue?

Not applicable: this is a generated translation refresh rather than a reported runtime defect; source inspection confirms the catalog gaps.

Is this the best way to solve the issue?

Yes. Updating the existing locale artifacts and derived catalog is the established, narrow solution, and retained translations remain unchanged.

Evidence

What I checked:

  • Canonical publisher ownership: The supplied GitHub snapshot identifies openclaw-mantis[bot] and automation/native-app-locale-refresh targeting main. The repository workflow publishes that exact branch after generating and validating locale artifacts; the review policy explicitly keeps these publisher-managed PRs open. (.github/workflows/native-app-locale-refresh.yml:244, cc75788a533a)
  • Complete semantic delta inspected: Read-only JSON comparisons of the pinned base and head found 24 added and 28 removed macOS catalog keys, with no modified retained entries. Each of the 21 locale artifacts adds 23 translations and removes 28, without changing retained translations or metadata. Every added translation matches its exact source-key catalog value; inventory membership and checked format tokens had no discrepancies. (apps/macos/Sources/OpenClaw/Resources/Localizable.xcstrings, cc75788a533a)
  • Refresh remains useful on current main: Comparing the catalog at fetched main with the introduced additions showed all 24 added keys remain absent there. The source inventory maps those additions to existing macOS interface call sites, while none of the removed keys remains in the macOS inventory. (apps/macos/Sources/OpenClaw/Resources/Localizable.xcstrings, b7848ca6b197)
  • Existing interface contract: The Connection window already uses the updated remote-auth help, remote test status, Nearby Gateways heading, and Dashboard settings button. This PR supplies their translations without introducing those behaviors or changing authorization. (apps/macos/Sources/OpenClaw/ConnectionSettingsView.swift:317, cc75788a533a)
  • Canonical generation and validation: The generator derives Apple catalogs from the source inventory and locale artifacts, preserving existing translated entries. Locale validation rejects unknown or missing identifiers, empty translations, and structural-token mismatches. (scripts/native-app-i18n.ts:1487, cc75788a533a)
  • Area-history routing: Current-main path history lists Peter Steinberger’s recent Connection-window rewrite and earlier move of settings into the Dashboard. Localization history also records his restoration of the canonical refresh pipeline. These support routing, without establishing source-line introduction. (apps/macos/Sources/OpenClaw/ConnectionSettingsView.swift, adf581865676)

Likely related people:

  • Peter Steinberger: Suggested for follow-up; no historical authorship or introduction is verified. (role: unverified routing candidate; confidence: low)

Rating scale

Score Internal tier Crab rank Meaning
6/6 S 🦀 challenger crab Exceptional readiness
5/6 A 🦞 diamond lobster Very strong readiness
4/6 B 🐚 platinum hermit Good normal PR; ordinary maintainer review
3/6 C 🦐 gold shrimp Useful, but confidence is limited
2/6 D 🦪 silver shellfish Proof or implementation needs work
1/6 F 🧂 unranked krab Not merge-ready
N/A NA 🌊 off-meta tidepool Rating does not apply

Overall follows the weaker of proof and patch quality.
Shiny media proof means a screenshot, video, or linked artifact directly shows the changed behavior. Runtime, network, CSP, and security claims still need visible diagnostics.
