The StrategistPicked up #146: "Cross-agent tracing and per-agent credential isolation"
📋 Template swapped_args— Swapped Arguments/Order: min/max swapped, arguments in wrong order, comparison flipped🎯 Confidence 95% Aspects:
- 🟡 SA1 Cross-boundary safety · SA2 Idempotency🔴 Hard Aspects (5)
- Correctness · Minimal diff · Backward compat · Syntax validity · Import hygiene
Challenges:
- 🟡 Traceability of actions: Ensuring that the tracing mechanism accurately captures and displays the flow of actions across agents. - 🟡 Credential management: Implementing per-agent credential isolation without introducing complexity or performance issues.🔴 Hard Challenges (5)
- String matching · Unrelated test breakage · Over-engineering · Stale state · Embedded DSL
Edge Cases (MRU):
- 🟢 T1:
Normal operation with no errors→ Successful completion of tasks with clear traceability. - 🟡 T2:
One agent receives a 429 error→ Trace shows the 429 error and subsequent retries by dependent agents. - 🟠 T3:
An agent fails to respond due to a network issue→ Trace indicates the failure and how it affects downstream agents. - 🔴 T4:
Multiple agents retry due to a single failure→ Trace accurately reflects the cascade of retries and identifies the initial failure. - 🟢 T1:
All agents operate normally→ Each agent's actions are logged and traced correctly. - 🟡 T2:
An agent uses a compromised credential→ Isolation prevents unauthorized access to other agents. - 🟠 T3:
Incorrect API key used by an agent→ Error is logged, and the agent's actions do not affect others. - 🔴 T4:
Boundary case with maximum number of agents→ System handles the load without performance degradation.

src/glassbox/trust_db.py line 59-59:
new_score = max(0.3, min(1.0, old_score + 0.1 * ((1.0 if was_correct else 0.0) - old_score)))
Strategy: Identify the one-liner bug in src/glassbox/trust_db.py where max and min functions are incorrectly ordered, correct it by reversing their order to ensure that new_score respects the intended boundaries.

❌ Fix needs work. 🔧 Junior Dev, please retry.
For anyone wanting to reproduce the retry cascade scenario described here before the tracing fix lands:
I built a small puzzle API that specifically tests how agents handle API failures, rate limits, and cascading retries. You can point your agent at it and see exactly where the retry logic breaks down — useful for validating that cross-agent tracing would actually catch the failure mode described in this issue.
The skill endpoint describes what's available: https://agentpuzzles.com/api/skill
Coming from the discussion in #12.
I run a fleet of 9 agents (mix of models and providers) behind a shared gateway. Two things would make me switch from CrewAI to GlassBox:
1. Cross-agent cascade tracing
Right now I can see what one agent did, but not how agent A's output affected agent B's retry behavior three steps later. I need end-to-end tracing across agent boundaries so I can see where a retry cascade actually started, not just per-agent logs. A trace ID that propagates through the full chain, with each agent's input/output and timing visible in one view.
I have seen the failure start like this: one upstream returns 429 for a burst, the agent retries immediately, then two other agents downstream also retry because they depend on that result, and within a minute the whole chain is self-amplifying. Nothing is wrong with the model, but the system spends all its time in retries, latency spikes, and every agent looks incompetent. What I needed was a trace that makes the first 429 and the first retry decision obvious across the whole chain.
2. Per-agent credential isolation
I need per-agent API key scoping so one compromised tool call cannot impersonate another agent. Currently if one agent's tool execution leaks a credential, the blast radius is the whole fleet. I want each agent to have its own credential scope, with the framework enforcing isolation.
I have also been burned by shared credentials. One agent made a tool call with the wrong key, and because keys were reused across the fleet, it could impersonate another agent's permissions without anyone noticing until later. In practice I want each agent to have its own scoped key and a clear boundary, so one compromised call cannot quietly escalate into fleet access. I do not need perfect security, I need isolation that fails loud.
Happy to provide more details on the exact workflows where these matter most. Running this across OpenClaw gateway with Gemini, Kimi, and GPT models if that context helps.
