Sims checklists ✈

My first multiplatform App in Kotlin for Desktop & Android

Application helps to control, proceed and complete checklists of virtual airplanes as far as calculate fuel quantity for your trip and get METAR/TAF with visualized wind director.

Features

Checklists

  • the most popular Cessna 172 Skyhawk
  • luxury one Cirrus SR-22
  • Cessna Citation X (X-plane 12 default edition)
  • Beech King Air 350 with a full ten-checklist set derived from the official checklists

Fuel calculator

Easy plan your fuel for the trip regarding the distance, wind, distance to alternate using the predefined data for saved aircraft.

Avia weather helper

Check the wind and other meteorological conditions for the airport of your destination.

Select preferable runway to land for headwind.

Save your own top list of recent airports on METAR screen for faster access.

Get METAR, TAF, and D-ATIS (Digital ATIS) for US airports — view arrival and departure ATIS info in a tabbed layout.

NOTICE

To serve the main purpose of the provided airport information—visualizing headwind and crosswind components — the runway headings are given in true courses, not magnetic.

Since the wind information in METAR reports is always referenced to true north, we use the true course of each runway to accurately display crosswind and headwind components relative to the aircraft’s track.

Airports database

Download for offline using the whole airports database provided by ourairports.com Explore the airport details, runways properties and necessary frequencies. Look for any airport details from the recent list or search by ICAO or name of the airport.

QFE Helper

You can easily convert QFE air pressure given you by ATC to QNH for modern aircraft which do not support QFE. Also, the feature allows you to convert Height given in meters AGL (above ground level) to feet ASL (above sea level).

Cold Temperature Corrector

When flying in cold weather conditions (below standard temperature), altimeter readings can be significantly higher than the actual altitude. This feature helps you calculate the corrected altitude for your waypoints based on the airport elevation and current temperature from METAR.

  • Automatically loads airport elevation from the database
  • Fetches current temperature from METAR weather data
  • FAF and MDA/DA points are automatically added as temporary waypoints with visual distinction (no need to enter them twice)
  • Calculates corrected altitudes for all waypoints using FAA segment-based correction method (AIM 7-3-6)
  • Temporary FAF/MDA points are sorted alongside user-added waypoints based on their altitude
  • Supports different correction values for intermediate and final approach segments
  • Accessible from the METAR screen via the snowflake icon (❄️) when weather data is available

Why it matters: In cold temperatures, your true altitude is lower than what your altimeter indicates. This correction is essential for safe obstacle clearance during approaches in winter conditions.

Some develop details:

  • Compose Multiplatform project in Kotlin 2.20
  • Custom drawing for wind director
  • METAR/TAF info is fetching from https://aviationweather.gov/
  • D-ATIS info is fetching from FAA Digital ATIS
  • Airports information fetches from CSV files (https://davidmegginson.github.io/ourairports-data) and maps to local multiplatform sqlite database (incredibly fast performance).
  • METAR parser from my own library metarKt published on MavenCentral.
  • Awesome library Decompose for navigation and lifecycle management, thanks to @arkivanov
  • Google Material library for UI with dark and light theme support.
  • MVI architecture.

Glad to see you soon in virtual skies!
