With thanks to ngoralski for digging out the bugs, and proposed solution
I think I have rebased all the changes in master, since original branch. I may have completely messed up the diffs. But at least the branch RIGHT NOW, should be functional and up to date as of today. Dunno if it actualy WORKS yet. But at least it is feature-for-feature complete with main. In theory.
