Spotifast v0.12.0
Spotifast 0.12.0 rests the audio device while you're paused, lets you drop skins on the window on Wayland again, speaks Turkish, and fixes the queue, the Add to playlist menu, the volume on phones and a crowded top bar. It also finishes the move from Fastpotify: the old name, command and profile move are gone.

New
- A paused Spotifast costs nothing. Paused, Spotifast used to keep the audio device running and fed it silence. Now the device rests until you press Play, and starts again at once. On a Mac that took Spotifast from about 0.5% of a core to nothing, and macOS's audio service from about 4% to nearly nothing; Windows' audio service went from about 5% to nothing. By @crmne; thanks @gagarine. (#636)
- Turkish. Spotifast is now available in Turkish. By @brsbrkctn. (#643)
- Drop skins on the window on Wayland again. Dropping a
.wszskin, or any file, on the window works on Wayland again, and pasting keeps working on Hyprland. This lifts the 0.11.2 limitation. By @crmne. - Every command works on Linux too.
spotifast now-playing,devices,next,like,transferand the other subcommands now work on Linux as they do on macOS and Windows, beside MPRIS. By @crmne. - Scrolling, the tray and media controls shared with ZapFast and Solco. Spotifast's scrolling, single-instance guard and desktop media controls now come from fastframe, the foundation its sister apps share, so fixes reach every app. Scrolling picks up two fixes on the way: a slow frame no longer cuts a touchpad gesture short. By @crmne.
Fixed
- Reordering the queue moves the song you dragged. Several quick moves in Playing next could move a different song, or empty the list until the next track. By @crmne; thanks @D3SOX. (#598)
- The Add to playlist menu stays open while you search. Clicking its search field closed the menu, and clearing a search left the list short. By @crmne; thanks @D3SOX. (#638)
- The volume is greyed out for devices that won't take it. When the playing device, such as an iPhone over Bluetooth, doesn't let other apps change its volume, the volume control is now greyed out with a tooltip instead of showing an error. By @crmne; thanks @jorisw. (#627)
- The top bar keeps its room in a narrow window. With Queue or Lyrics open, the buttons beside the search field ran over it. The side panels now give way, down to their narrowest, and the window can't be made narrower than they need while they're open. By @crmne; thanks @oo7kc. (#624)
- A personal Spotify app is told to authorize again, not to sign in. A personal app set up before 0.9.0 showed "Spotify permissions changed. Sign in again." on every launch, which signing in couldn't fix. The message now points to Authorize in Settings → Account. By @crmne; thanks @azais-corentin. (#634)
- The window keeps its size when the interface is zoomed. With the zoom not at 100%, the window shrank on every restart. By @crmne.
- Older Windows graphics drivers start Spotifast. When a modern OpenGL context isn't available, Spotifast now falls back to a compatible one instead of failing to start. By @crmne.
Changed
- Fastpotify is gone. Spotifast no longer carries the old name anywhere:
- the
fastpotifycommand is gone; usespotifast; - settings, sign-ins and caches from Fastpotify 0.9.0 or older are no longer moved over: if you update straight from one of those, you start fresh (your old files stay where they were);
- on Windows, if you're on 0.10.0 to 0.10.2, start Spotifast once by hand after this update: those versions' updater looks for the old program name.
- the
- The
rodioaudio backend setting now always means Spotifast's own output, which it always did in practice; librespot's separate rodio output is no longer included. PulseAudio stays available on Linux. - Scripts and tools that talked to port 47113 need the command line now. On macOS and Windows the fixed local port is gone, replaced by a private channel only your own
spotifastcommand can use. Thespotifastsubcommands work as before; tools that opened the port directly, such as Stream Deck plugins, should call them instead.

Spotifast v0.11.2
Spotifast 0.11.2 puts the new icon everywhere the app shows its logo, makes pasting work again on Hyprland, keeps running when a computer has no audio output, and keeps desktop media controls in step with the volume.
Download Spotifast: Mac · Windows · Windows ARM · Linux · Linux ARM · Flatpak · AppImage · AppImage ARM
The sign-in card, before and while connecting (demo content).
Fixed
- The new icon is on every screen. 0.11.1 refreshed the app icon, but the sign-in and connecting card and Settings → About still drew the old flat disc. They now show the same icon as the app, the window and the tray, and the built-in Winamp skin's logo button and About mark have its polished look too. By @crmne.
- Pasting works again on Hyprland. Ctrl+V and Paste in the text menu did nothing on Hyprland, such as on Omarchy, in every field, including the Client ID. By @crmne; thanks @fgrehm. (#614)
- No audio output no longer closes Spotifast. On a computer without an output device, for example a new PC still missing its audio drivers, pressing play closed the app without a word. The song now pauses with a message saying no audio output device was found, in your language, and Spotifast stays open to play on another Spotify Connect device. By @crmne; thanks @spencernaugler7. (#623)
- Desktop media controls keep up with the volume. Changing the volume from your desktop's media controls on Linux could leave them showing the old level. By @rosset-nocpes. (#599)
Known limitations
- On Wayland, dropping a file on the window, such as a
.wszskin, is not available for now: it took the clipboard from the rest of the app on Hyprland. Put skins in the skins folder that Settings opens instead. X11, macOS and Windows are unaffected.
Thanks
@rosset-nocpes, @spencernaugler7, @fgrehm, and everyone who reported problems after 0.11.1.

Spotifast v0.11.1
Spotifast 0.11.1 shows emoji in colour everywhere, comes as an AppImage, selects songs with the arrow keys, and wears a refreshed icon. It also fixes local playback on Windows on ARM, the volume jumping back after a reconnect, and a dozen smaller problems reported since 0.11.0.

The icon before and after.
New
- Emoji in colour, everywhere. Names, lyrics, menus, tooltips and text fields such as the search box now draw emoji in colour, in the system's own emoji font. By @crmne.
- Spotifast as an AppImage. Each release now includes
spotifast-X.Y.Z-x86_64.AppImageandspotifast-X.Y.Z-aarch64.AppImage: one file, make it executable and run it, no installation. By @crmne. - Select songs with the arrow keys, remove them with Delete. In a playlist, album or Liked Songs, up and down now select the song they land on, and Shift extends the selection. In a playlist you can edit, Delete (and Backspace on macOS) removes the selected songs. By @shrinikets. (#585)
- Remove from this playlist on the playing song. Right-clicking the song in the player bar now offers the removal while it plays from a playlist you can edit. By @TacticalDeux. (#592)
- A refreshed icon. The play triangle is larger, has softly rounded corners and sits in the centre of the disc, and the disc has a polished rim and a lit face. By @crmne.
Fixed
- Local playback works on Windows on ARM. Turning it on answered "Premium account required" on ARM computers, because Spotify did not recognise the platform Spotifast announced. By @crmne; thanks @watermarkhu. (#123)
- The volume you set survives a reconnect. When the Spotify session dropped and came back, the volume returned to the level Spotifast started with: music turned down to 5% could come back at 80%. A volume set before this computer became the active device is kept too. By @queueeee. (#589)
- The window drags from the top of every panel with the custom title bar. On Windows, grabbing the top of the window over the sidebar, the queue or the lyrics did nothing. By @Outfluencer. (#590)
- Clearing the search stays on the page you are on. The clear button opened the search page. By @theworker02; thanks @D3SOX. (#609, #596)
- A single song starts on a phone or speaker. Playing or resuming a one-song context on another device failed with "Non supported context uri". By @Magniquick. (#605)
- Spotify's own mixes line up. A playlist whose songs carry no added dates no longer reserves an empty Date added column that pushed the album names out from under their heading. By @Magniquick. (#607)
- The visualizer's tooltip stays off the controls. "Click to change the visualizer" followed the pointer onto the play button and the seek bar and covered their tooltips. By @Magniquick. (#606)
- A settings file saved by Windows PowerShell or Notepad is read. Such a file starts with a byte order mark; Spotifast rejected it, fell back to the defaults and then saved them over your settings. By @kevin9327. (#617)
- A skin unpacked with Windows' Extract All appears in the list. Its files sit one folder deeper, which Spotifast could read but did not list. By @kevin9327. (#618)
- The MilkDrop sliders match the other settings. Time per preset and Frame rate now have the same shape, font and colours as the controls around them. By @nos1609. (#600)
- The cover stays put while full-screen lyrics load. It moved aside for the lyrics and back again when a song had none; it now waits in the middle, with "Loading…" beneath it, and moves only once there are words to show. By @crmne.
Known limitations
- The AppImage bundles no libraries: it needs glibc 2.39 or newer and your desktop's own libraries, like the DEB and RPM. It does not update itself; download the new file when Spotifast says a release is out. Running it needs FUSE, or
--appimage-extract-and-run.
Thanks

Spotifast v0.11.0
Spotifast 0.11 makes the player move: a Winamp spectrum or scope can now dance behind the player bar in your cover's colours, full-screen lyrics sit beside a large cover (or show just the cover when a song has no words), and new colours open from the middle of the window the way Omarchy's theme changes do. It also puts eight ready-made palettes in your themes folder, adds a random Winamp skin, Ctrl+X for songs, and fixes updating on Windows for installations that still started as Fastpotify.
Download Spotifast: Mac · Windows · Windows ARM · Linux · Linux ARM · Flatpak
Full-screen lyrics with the cover, the player bar visualizer, and the cover alone (demo content).
New
- The player bar moves with the music. Settings → Appearance → Player bar visualizer draws Winamp's spectrum, with all 75 of its bands, or Winamp's scope behind the player bar, in colours from the cover, with glowing bars, peaks that hang and fall, and a pulse with the bass. Click the bar's empty space to switch between spectrum, waveform and off. Like the mini player's visualizer, it follows the equalizer, not the volume, and moves only while the song plays on this computer. It is off by default. By @crmne.
- Full-screen lyrics show the cover. In a wide window the cover sits large beside the lyrics, the two centred together, and a song without words, such as an instrumental, shows just its cover in the middle of the screen. By @crmne; thanks @rayspread and @AshKxK. (#346)
- The line being sung sits near the top of the lyrics, so the lines still to come fill the view, in the side panel and in full screen. By @crmne.
- New colours open from the middle, as in Omarchy. Picking a theme, Omarchy switching themes, or your system going light or dark now reveals the new colours with Omarchy's own animation instead of switching in a single frame. By @crmne.
- Eight palettes to use or start from. Spotifast now puts Catppuccin, Catppuccin Latte, Nord, Ristretto, Rose Pine, Rose Pine Dawn, Rose Pine Moon and Tokyo Night in your themes folder the first time it starts. They are ordinary files: pick them, change them, copy one to make your own, or delete the ones you don't want. The theme picker lists names without
.json, and How to make a theme beside Open themes folder opens the guide. By @crmne. - A random Winamp skin. Choose Random among the skins, and each switch to the mini player picks another one, never the same twice in a row. By @crmne; thanks @calomarucalomaru676. (#299)
- Cut songs with
Ctrl+X(Cmd+Xon macOS): in a playlist you can edit, it copies the selected songs and removes them, soCtrl+Vin another playlist moves them there. By @crmne; thanks @smvsch. (#539) - Enter adds to the first matching playlist. Typing in Add to playlist highlights the first match; Enter adds to it, and the arrow keys choose another. By @crmne.
Fixed
- Updating works again on Windows when Spotifast was started as
fastpotify.exe. The update installed but came back with "The update could not start", because updates restart the program under the name it was started from. Installations still using the old name now move ontospotifast.exeas they update, shortcuts that started the old file are pointed at the new one, and a Mac copy still calledFastpotify.appcomes back asSpotifast.app. By @crmne; thanks @G2Poti for the report and @kevin9327 for tracking down the cause (#588). (#582) - Media controls see a song on repeat start over. On Linux, status bars and other MPRIS clients kept counting past the end of a repeated song; Spotifast now tells them the song went back to the start. By @crmne; thanks @Magniquick. (#587)
- Large playlists save faster. Loading a big playlist no longer rewrites every song saved so far each time it saves progress. By @luiscuellar31; thanks @juanre7. (#571, #328)
- Arabic titles on Windows are as large as the text around them. Spotifast drew Arabic with an old print face whose letters are much smaller; it now uses Segoe UI, the face Windows itself uses, and Hebrew, Indic and Thai titles use Windows' own interface faces too. By @crmne.
- A scrolled page slides under the header with a shadow. The fade at the top of a scrolled page blended into a plain background colour, which showed as a pale band over a cover's tint; the header now casts a soft shadow instead, in both themes. By @crmne.
Known limitations
- The player bar visualizer uses about 7% of one CPU core while it moves, which is why it is off by default. It only moves for music playing on this computer, not on other Spotify devices.
Thanks
@kevin9327, @luiscuellar31, @G2Poti, @Magniquick, @smvsch, @juanre7, @rayspread, @AshKxK, @calomarucalomaru676, and everyone who reported problems and tried the new player since 0.10.2.

Spotifast v0.10.2
Spotifast 0.10.2 fixes the "Application Not Responding" freeze on Hyprland, shows Hebrew and Arabic titles in the order they are written and at the size of the text around them, draws text the way your desktop does, and follows Omarchy theme changes on its own. Much of this comes from fastframe, the shared foundation Spotifast now shares with ZapFast, RekordFlash and TonePush.
Download Spotifast: Mac · Windows · Windows ARM · Linux · Linux ARM · Flatpak
Hebrew and Arabic titles, alone and mixed with English (demo content).
New
- Omarchy theme changes apply by themselves. On Linux, Spotifast now notices when you switch your Omarchy theme or edit a palette in its themes folder and updates its colours right away, without the hook or
spotifast reload-themes. Portable downloads and Cargo builds follow Omarchy too, not only the packages. By @crmne. - Text follows your desktop's font settings on Linux. Spotifast reads the hinting and antialiasing your desktop asks for, so a desktop set to full hinting or to no antialiasing gets it in Spotifast as well. By @crmne.
- Downloads are signed.
checksums.txtnow comes withchecksums.txt.sig, signed with Spotifast's release key (public key inassets/update-public-key.hex), so you and package maintainers can check that a download came from this project. A later release will make the built-in updater refuse any update without a valid signature. By @crmne.
Fixed
- Spotifast no longer freezes on Hyprland. When another window went fullscreen or maximized over Spotifast, when it started on a hidden workspace, or with the display off, Hyprland stopped sending it frames, Spotifast waited for one that never came, and Hyprland then reported it as not responding. Spotifast now paces its drawing by the compositor on every Wayland desktop, so a covered window can no longer hold it up. The fix is also proposed to egui and winit (emilk/egui#8631, rust-windowing/winit#4709). By @crmne; thanks @Ribelio and @nojaf. (#266) The separate Windows freeze first reported in #266, during network trouble, is not fixed by this release and stays open.
- Hebrew and Arabic titles read in the right order. Brackets face the right way, punctuation and numbers sit where they belong, and a title that mixes English with Hebrew or Arabic shows each part in its own direction. Titles cut short with … still fit their column, and in the search field the cursor follows what you type. By @crmne.
- Arabic titles are as large as the English around them. An Arabic font that draws small next to Spotifast's own is enlarged to match, so Arabic titles no longer look a size smaller. By @crmne.
- Fewer names show as empty boxes. Javanese, styled mathematical and circled letters, and ♡ now use a font installed on your computer when the interface font lacks them. By @crmne.
- Dark-theme text on Linux has the same weight as other Linux apps. Light text on a dark background was drawn heavier than GTK apps draw it; it now matches them. Hebrew and Arabic words also stay sharp at fractional display scales such as 133%. On macOS text is now drawn without hinting, as macOS itself draws it; Windows keeps the weight it had. By @crmne.
- Running from the menu bar is steadier on macOS. With the window closed, a system error while handling the menu-bar item or the Dock can no longer bring Spotifast down. By @crmne.
- Double-clicking the title bar on macOS respects the older minimize setting when System Settings has no newer choice stored. By @crmne.
- Crash logs keep the error without web addresses.
panic.lognow records the error message with any link removed, so it helps a bug report without carrying a private address. By @crmne.
Thanks
@Ribelio and @nojaf for the reports and details that tracked down the Hyprland freeze, and everyone who reported problems after 0.10.1.

Spotifast v0.10.1
Spotifast 0.10.1 continues started podcast episodes where you left them, fixes two layout problems in narrow windows reported after 0.10.0, makes the Library grid lighter on memory, and credits the author in Settings.

Radio pages, added in 0.10.0.
Fixed
- Settings fit narrow windows. In a window too narrow for a setting and its control side by side, the control now goes on its own line below the text instead of squeezing the text into a column one letter wide, and the audio quality choices stand in a column when even that line is too narrow. By @crmne; thanks @jorisw. (#574)
- The Library heading stays clear of its buttons in a narrow sidebar. It shrinks a little for longer translations and gives way to the Library icon in the narrowest sidebar. By @crmne; thanks @foofhere. (#576)
- The Library grid uses less memory. It loads 300-pixel covers instead of full-size ones, so covers no longer flicker as the artwork cache fills. By @hyperpuncher. (#580)
New
- Started podcast episodes continue where you left them. Play on the Home shelf, a podcast page, your saved episodes or search resumes from the place shown as time left, instead of starting over. By @kevin9327. (#570)
- Settings → About credits the author, with a link to paolino.me, and the macOS About window does too. By @crmne.
Thanks

Spotifast v0.10.0
Spotifast 0.10 brings radio: open a mix of songs Spotify picks to go with any song, playlist, album, or artist, play exactly what you see, and save it as a playlist. The interface is now translated into 13 languages and follows your system's language. It also uses far less CPU while you move the mouse, keeps running on hidden Linux workspaces, uses the standard Windows title bar by default, and fixes a stuck full-screen window on Windows, Linux light and dark appearance, fonts on NixOS, and a dozen smaller problems reported since 0.9.1.

New
- Radio pages. Go to song radio now opens a page of 50 songs Spotify picks to go with the song instead of starting playback, as in Spotify's app, and playlists, albums, and artists have Go to playlist radio, Go to album radio, and Go to artist radio in their … menu. Play plays exactly the songs on the page, Refresh asks for a new mix, and Save as playlist keeps it. By @crmne; thanks @fedalc, @aspectrr, and @alexng353, whose #359 first showed a song radio as a page. (#369, #294)
- Spotifast speaks your language. The whole interface is now translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Brazilian and European Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Japanese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and follows your system's language. Settings → Appearance → Language picks another. By @crmne, building on @LukeOkk's work. (#353, #534)
- Select, copy, and paste songs.
Ctrl+A(Cmd+Aon macOS) selects every song in a list,Ctrl+Ccopies their links, andCtrl+Vadds copied songs to a playlist you can edit. By @crmne; thanks @smvsch. (#539) - Play, Pause, Next, and Previous in the macOS Dock menu. By @crmne; thanks @patatman. (#502)
- The mini player can leave the taskbar on Linux X11, as it already could on Windows. By @crmne; thanks @skorokithakis. (#325)
- The Library can show a grid of covers. A button in the Library header switches between the list and a grid that fits as many covers as the sidebar is wide; a card's corner button plays it. By @hyperpuncher. (#522)
- Middle-click autoscroll on Linux, off by default since middle click usually pastes there: Settings → Appearance → Middle-click autoscroll. By @crmne; thanks @Felitendo. (#488)
- Windows uses the standard title bar. Spotifast's own frameless title bar caused a black band and misplaced clicks with some graphics drivers. Settings → Appearance → Custom title bar brings it back if you prefer it. By @crmne; thanks @Mathiu and everyone who reported the black bar. (#348)
- Audiobooks stay out of Podcasts. Spotify lists some audiobooks among saved shows, but they can't be played here, so the Podcasts shelf leaves them out when local playback is enabled. By @crmne; thanks @nojaf. (#537)
- Shuffle beside a collection's Play button only turns shuffle on or off, as in Spotify's desktop app, instead of also starting the collection. By @luiscuellar31. (#525)
- The player bar fades between song colours instead of jumping from one tint to the next. By @luiscuellar31. (#452)
Fixed
- Moving the mouse no longer spins the CPU. Spotifast now waits for your screen's refresh on Windows, X11, and Wayland desktops that report hidden windows. In our Windows measurement, moving the pointer over the window used a fifth of the CPU it did before. On Wayland a window on a hidden workspace keeps playing and responding to media keys instead of freezing. By @crmne; thanks @hyperpuncher for measuring the problem. (#552)
- Quitting during fullscreen lyrics no longer leaves Windows stuck in full screen. The next launch returns the window to its previous size, and windows already stuck are restored. By @crmne; thanks @foofhere. (#565)
- Full-screen lyrics show the blurred cover straight away, instead of a black background that sometimes appeared only much later, and the backdrop no longer flashes black between songs. By @crmne; thanks @calisocialist and @Alimedhat000. (#561)
- Your playlists no longer come up short after a reload. A page left over from an earlier load of the Library could be taken for the new one's. By @kevin9327. (#471)
- Next names the next song immediately, even before its audio has loaded. By @crmne; thanks @milkday. (#495)
- Follow system follows your Linux desktop's light or dark setting, on GNOME, KDE, and in Flatpak, and changes with it. By @crmne; thanks @pakovm-git and @sanketttt26. (#498)
- Chinese, Japanese, and Korean titles render on NixOS, using fonts from
fonts.packages. By @crmne; thanks @Nanaa05. (#546) - Trackpad scrolling on Linux stays put while your fingers rest. Momentum starts only after a real lift. By @crmne; thanks @Fjalar. (#503)
- Editing playlist details saves only what you changed. Spotify doesn't let apps remove a description entirely, so clearing it now keeps the old one and says why instead of failing a rename saved alongside it. By @crmne; thanks @rafi. (#559)
- Remove from this playlist works in sorted and filtered views. By @TacticalDeux. (#564)
- Setting up local playback waits for every Spotify server fallback before giving up. By @luiscuellar31; thanks @cipri-tom. (#481, #479)
- Double-clicking the top bar on macOS performs the action chosen in Desktop & Dock. By @luiscuellar31; thanks @ankarhem. (#478, #350)
- Times and dates no longer shift as their digits change. By @hyperpuncher. (#562)
- Buttons keep the ordinary arrow pointer, and only links show the hand, as in other desktop apps. By @crmne; thanks @iamcalledrob. (#508)
- Dragging a playlist while following Spotify's order explains the switch to your local arrangement, since Spotify doesn't let apps change its order. By @crmne; thanks @jorisw. (#557)
- Settings no longer suggests creating a Spotify app once yours is ready, and large playlists no longer show a separate Go to song box; drag the scrollbar instead. By @crmne; thanks @jorisw. (#560)
- Simplified Chinese wording for repeat, queue, and lyrics reads more naturally. By @huojian17-star. (#544)

Spotifast v0.9.1
Spotifast 0.9.1 finishes the move to the new name while keeping existing settings, sign-ins, and installations working. This is the last release with Fastpotify-named compatibility downloads. If you still use an older version, update to 0.9.1 before updating further, or install a newer Spotifast release manually.
Download Spotifast: Mac · Windows · Windows ARM · Linux · Linux ARM · Flatpak
The fastpotify-* files below are identical compatibility copies for older updaters that require those filenames. Use the Spotifast links above for a new installation. Releases after 0.9.1 will not publish old-named downloads.
Fullscreen lyrics, added in 0.9.0.
Fixed
- Your settings and sign-ins come with you. Existing profiles, cached music, window state, and protected credentials move to Spotifast. Custom device names stay unchanged, and Liked Songs pins keep their place. An updater trial leaves the old profile available if the update needs to roll back. By @crmne.
- Spotifast is the primary package and executable name. Portable archives, Windows installation shortcuts, the Rust package, logs, and Linux media controls use the new name. Version 0.9.1 provides the final compatibility downloads for older updaters and accepts the new archive and macOS bundle identities used by future releases. Existing installation locations remain valid. By @crmne.
- macOS update helpers stay inside the signed app. Updates no longer copy the helper executable out of its signed bundle. If a helper still cannot start, the error includes its exit status and a diagnostic log location. By @crmne; thanks @jorisw for reporting the startup failure. (#556)
- Existing Omarchy integrations follow the renamed profile. The app updates its unmodified theme hook automatically and leaves customized hooks alone. By @crmne.
If an older macOS build reports that its update helper exited before it was ready, install 0.9.1 from the DMG manually. The helper changes take effect for updates started from 0.9.1 onward.
Custom Linux media scripts should use playerctl --player=spotifast. Cargo users may need cargo install --git https://github.com/crmne/spotifast --locked --force once to replace commands owned by the old package. See the upgrade and rename guide for details.
Thanks
@jorisw and everyone who reported upgrade problems and helped test the transition to Spotifast.

Spotifast 0.9.0
0.9.0 adds fullscreen lyrics, custom playlist covers, and proxy settings. Playback and queues are more reliable when changing songs, switching Spotify Connect devices, or recovering from a dropped connection.
New
- Give lyrics the whole screen. Follow the current line with larger text and an album-art backdrop, keep playback controls within reach, and press Escape to return to your previous window. By @NotTanJune and @crmne. (#316)
- Give your playlists their own covers. Choose a JPEG or PNG from Edit details → Change cover, preview it, and upload it to Spotify. Spotify may ask you to sign in again to approve image uploads. By @dyd4dsh7 and @crmne. (#329)
- Choose how Spotifast connects. Settings now offer System, Off, HTTP, and SOCKS5 proxy modes, with proxy passwords kept in the native credential store. Local audio supports an unauthenticated HTTP proxy; other proxy types apply to the app's web requests. By @we11adam and @crmne. (#250)
- Like the current song from the Linux command line. Run
spotifast like, or bind it to a desktop shortcut. By @mgsloan. (#512) - Open Spotify search links directly in Spotifast. Launchers and Linux media controls can send a search to the app. More player, Queue, and Lyrics controls also use the existing translations. By @crmne.
Fixed
- Spotify Connect brings the song and queue back with you. Switching back to this computer transfers the active session's song, position, queue, and paused or playing state. By @crmne.
- Queue a whole album in order, then add another song after it. Albums, singles, and EPs queue on this computer or another device. Rate-limited additions retry automatically after Spotify's requested wait, and failed additions no longer leave blank rows behind. Starting an album keeps separately queued copies under Playing next. By @crmne; thanks @organicFoil. (#547)
- The song you choose stays selected and audible. Changing songs no longer lets discarded audio from the previous song cause an extra skip. Repeat mode also stays selected when starting another song. By @crmne; thanks @fernandoomorifaria and @wulffeld. (#535, #518)
- A dropped playback connection keeps the queue. Reconnection restores the song and position, manually queued songs, playlist context, shuffle order, and Repeat mode. By @crmne; thanks @Self-Perfection. (#533)
- Collections keep their familiar artwork while loading. Known covers and headers remain visible while complete details arrive, and softened covers no longer repeatedly decode and reload. By @hyperpuncher and @crmne. (#517, #551)
- macOS windows close without crashing, and updates accept the renamed executable. Switching to the mini player also preserves the main window's size. By @mdevils and @crmne; thanks @sermelipharo. (#532, #538, #542)

New
- Flatpak installs as Spotifast. The bundle now uses
rocks.spotifast.Spotifast. Install it separately from the old ID, copy settings and history if wanted, and sign in again. The repackaged bundle contains the original 0.8.0 executable. Switching instructions. By @crmne. - Make the app match your desktop. Choose Light, Dark, Follow system, or a local JSON palette. On Omarchy, packaged installs set up the theme hook at first launch and follow theme changes automatically. Open the themes folder from Settings to add your own palettes. Themes change colors while preserving the familiar layout and fonts. By @jdubba1 and @crmne. (#392)
- Install updates from inside the app. Download an update, then choose when to restart and install it. A failed installation restores the previous copy. By @coah80 and @crmne. (#383, #79)
- macOS downloads are signed and notarized by Apple. Both Apple Silicon and Intel are included in the same download. By @crmne.
- Middle-click to autoscroll on Windows. Move the pointer to scroll the current list; click or press Escape to stop. No setting is needed. By @zHeuzy2 and @crmne. (#112, #96)
- Refresh a playlist from its three-dot menu. Reload its details and songs without leaving the page. By @AQS-DS and @crmne. (#397)
- Find settings by typing their names. Settings search matches the visible controls. By @KartikeyaKotkar and @crmne. (#372)
- Double-click a Library item to play it. Play an album or playlist straight from the sidebar. By @skorokithakis. (#391)

- Keep the Library in your preferred order. Sort choices persist, and Liked Songs can move with other Library items. By @crmne.
- Control playback from the Windows taskbar preview. Play, pause and skip without bringing the window forward. By @Shipi1.
- Search can use your personal Spotify app. The sign-in flow explains when a personal app is useful for Premium listeners. By @joshkat and @crmne. (#388)

Fixed
- Shared-app playlists load through the playback session, with account-specific caches and complete song ordering. By @chagel and @crmne. (#271)
- Playlist Play starts at the first available song with shuffle off. Sorted and filtered views keep their visible order, and the requested song appears immediately. By @crmne.
- Repeated songs stay in the queue when adding a selection. Each selected occurrence is preserved. By @kevin9327. (#444)
- Recent plays keep the right songs and ordering. Repeated short-song listens remain separate, each row starts its own song, and loading older history leaves newer Library plays at the top. By @kevin9327 and @crmne. (#421, #422, #445)
- Long playlists and albums keep a full-length scrollbar. Jump to distant songs, with placeholders and Retry when a page cannot load. By @alexng353 and @crmne. (#384)
- Queue and Lyrics retain their full height beside the toolbar. Search and update controls fit the available page width. By @luiscuellar31 and @crmne. (#386, #378)
- Keyboard shortcuts respect text editing and modifiers. Arrow keys move the caret in focused fields, Queue shortcuts no longer quit the app, and the playing-album shortcut opens the album. By @kevin9327 and @crmne. (#415, #416)
- Mixed-script and right-to-left titles fit more reliably. Fallback fonts align with Inter, long RTL titles end within their text area, and Yi artist names can use installed fonts. By @kveld9, @kevin9327 and @crmne. (#345, #340, #439)
- Maximized windows restore correctly, and Windows checks mini-player positions against available monitors. By @luiscuellar31 and @crmne. (#396, #351)
- Flatpak keeps settings and sign-ins after fully quitting. By @GusMartins499. (#370)
- Spotify grants use the native credential store, with sign-in attempts isolated from older callbacks. By @crmne.
- Playback tries other addresses when a connection stalls. Connection attempts have bounded timeouts. By @crmne. (#413)
- Large playlist cache writes use less temporary memory, and bounded page caches preserve pending edits. By @Cleboost and @crmne. (#328, #320)
- EPs are shown separately from singles, submenu icons align consistently, and malformed album dates or nested unpacked skins are handled correctly. By @luiscuellar31, @kveld9, @kevin9327 and @crmne. (#356, #295, #341, #337)
- Linux packages declare the GUI libraries they need. DEB and RPM installation is checked on both architectures; Gentoo instructions are also available. By @aljazceru, @NikoMalik and @crmne. (#399, #389)
