  • Pillby, while almost fainting, begins to attempt to plan an excavation for the gemstones, but only Krummok enters the room
  • Krummok asks Pillby if he needs help mining, and pillby says he doesn't, and tells Krummok to eat some of those rodents in his bag
  • Pillby ends up eating a rat to appease Krummok after a miscommunication, and becomes violently ill
  • Finnegan notices a rock cover-up in the wall, Krummok rages and actually builds a door in the wall (which he tells an unconscious Pillby to "write down")
  • Upon clearing the rocks, the party notices three people trapped in the room, who all look very sick and look like they need help
  • Finnegan pulls out a couple rations and and casts healing word on all the unconscious ones, but they still look kind of out of it
  • Pillby wakes up from his sickness, immediately disregards the hidden sick folk, and gets Sfen to follow him back into the gemstone room, and he begins to attempt to persuade Sfen into helping him come up with a plan for everyone to mine out gemstones without hurting Krummok's feelings (since Krummok would more than likely destroy the gems)
  • Chroneer notices a skull in the wall, which is a skull of a mindflayer, embedded deeply
  • Chroneer begins to excavate the skull, and it gets destroyed, but then sees a purple and blue crystal inside of the skull

  • Finnegan reports his success to Oarus, and explains the people were missing because of a cave-in, and trapped behind rocks
  • Oarus inquires more about how the people got trapped, and Finnegan and Pillby explain that the big ol' brainy bois were the real ones that caused the cave-in, and also let Oarus know that there are still 3 very frightened kobolds down there

  • Brynn and Pillby both have dreams about their gods, even though Pillby doesn't have a god
  • Brynn dreams of his god Sylvanis embracing and talking with Shantia, the god of harvests, his dreams give him notions of this winter at Ten Towns being extreme, unlike any other and seemingly otherworldly; he gets the pull that this is unnatural and needs to be remedied
  • Pillby had a dream of a whimsical man playing a lute (the god of knowledge, Oghma) with a blank scroll floating above him, who asks him to help out Brynn in whatever he's doing, and also speaks Pillby's true name (which horrified him), and he woke up with a newfound sense of purpose and respect for Brynn
  • Pillby and Brynn discuss their dream in the morning, and Pillby attempts to learn music from Finnegan, who graciously allowed him to play his lute
  • The party heads back to the inn with their new employees, Edda, Finnan, and Torsten
  • Finnegan is pleased with the progress that the workers have made while they have been away
  • After the party makes it back to the inn, Shanar explains that a human man "put his hands on her" so she sort of... killed him, and "made him disappear"
  • The party collectively sort of decides not to look into the whole "mummy murdering random people and hiding their corpses" thing
  • Brynn explains he believes that people can become gods if they get enough power through prayer and/or sacrifice
  • Pillby has a momentary lapse in judgement when he wants to use a frost giant as a bouncer for the inn, but Finnegan corrects his behavior
  • The party decides to go and find the frost giant meeting place to a hill out to the west, and attempt to find out a location from the most western town of Ten Towns, Targos, to try and find out when the ritualistic sacrifices started that seem to be pushing Icewind Dale into a more cold and evil place

The text describes that a half-elf was "taken care of" by Torga's caravan

Note to Macreedus from Copper

In session 11, the party found a note addressed to the charred remains of Macreedus.

The text is as follows:

Macreadus,

I’ve had enough of this damned, relentless cold. I feel it creep into my bones, my head, my heart. I’m heading back to Ten-Towns for a decent meal and a warm bed. I fear this endless winter has numbed your mind, and any tinkerer worth their chains can see the Summer Star is a fool’s errand. Maybe without me here to incessantly complain to, you’ll finally snap out of your obsession.

If you truly insist on dedicating your remaining days to this doomed project, might I suggest that three is better than two. I considered telling you before, but you were particularly rude about the dinner I made last night.

May the light of the Morninglord protect you,
Copper

Games

Three-Dragon Ante

Rules

  • Three-Dragon Ante is played with 2-8 players.
  • The objective of the game is for the Dragon Slayer to slay all Dragons. If the Dragon Slayer dies, the Dragons win, at which point, a battle between Dragons to the death occurs, so one Dragon emerges as the winner.

Roles

  • There must be at least one Dragon Slayer and one Dragon. There may only be one Dragon Slayer.

Cards

  • The cards of Three-Dragon Ante have values for attack, health, and luck. Non-character cards may also require treasure if a Dragon plays them.

Character Cards

  • Each deck contains 6 Dragon Slayer character cards, and 12 Dragon cards. These cards will contain the attack, health, and luck for each player of the game.

Action Cards

  • Each deck contains 24 action cards that are played by characters on their turn in exchange for attack, health, or luck from their character.

Temporal Cards

  • Each deck contains 4 temporal cards that alter characters.

World Effect Cards

  • Each deck contains 12 world effect cards which alter the rules of the game.

Treasure Cards

  • Each deck contains 24 treasure cards which Dragons desire due to some of their actions requiring treasure, and Dragon Slayers have no use for.

Equipment Cards

  • Each deck contains 12 equipment cards which Dragon Slayers desire due to the boosts in stats equipment provides, and Dragons have no use for.

How To Play

  1. The character cards are shuffled in a pile, and each character draws sequentially. When a player draws a Dragon Slayer card and there is already a Dragon Slayer, that player discards the selected Dragon Slayer card and re-draws until they draw a Dragon card.
  2. Each player draws 6 cards from the pile of all other cards.
  3. A player will play up to one card from their hand.
  4. The game goes until there is one player remaining.
