Summary

  • Registers a GLEventListener on the GLWindow before the viz engine registers its own listener, so it fires first during GL context initialization
  • Checks for GDI Generic renderer or OpenGL version < 2.0, both of which indicate the Windows software fallback (no GPU driver / RDP session)
  • Shows a clear error dialog via NotifyDescriptor on the EDT explaining the issue and pointing the user to install a graphics driver
  • Uses a static AtomicBoolean to show the warning only once per JVM session

Fixes GEPHI-5JK, GEPHI-5JM, GEPHI-5HQ (all cascades from this root cause).

Test plan

  • On a normal system: no dialog appears, Gephi opens as usual
  • On a system with GDI Generic / OpenGL 1.1: error dialog is shown instead of a crash

…L < 2.0)

Detect the Windows software renderer (GDI Generic, OpenGL 1.1) early during
GL context initialization and show a clear error dialog rather than crashing
with obscure null-pointer or native exceptions downstream.
