Hi there, I'm Jaël Champagne Gareau 👋

Bridging research, code, and creativity — one floating point at a time.

I'm a post-doctoral researcher at Université TÉLUQ under the supervision of Professor Daniel Lemire. My work explores efficient algorithms, data engineering, and all things C++. I love learning, building, and sharing—from cloud servers to the keys of a piano.

🧑‍🔬 About Me

  • Current role: Postdoc in Computer Science, Université TÉLUQ
  • Supervised by: Daniel Lemire
  • Main research: High-performance computing, data structures, algorithms, automated planning
  • Publications: Presented at AAMAS, ECAI, and recipient of Best Paper at Canadian-AI
  • Always learning: Open to new languages, tools, and collaborative opportunities

🛠️ Skills

  • Primary: C++
  • Also proficient in: C, Haskell, Prolog, Java, Python, Bash
  • Comfortable with: Cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and learning new technologies

🚀 Projects

  • int_serialization_benchmark:
Cutting-edge research in fast integer serialization. Includes our AVX-512 Champagne-Lemire algorithm.
  • float_serialization_benchmark:
Cutting-edge research in fast, accurate floating-point serialization.
  • neo-bertha:
My Kubernetes Talos OS-based hobby server cluster—because infrastructure should be both fun and reliable!
  • jaja360.github.io (website):
My personal/professional website. You’ll find my full project list, blog, and CV there.

🏆 Achievements

  • Best Paper Award, Canadian-AI Conference
  • Publications at AAMAS, ECAI, ACM SIGSPATIAL and Software: Practice and Experience
  • Contributor to many open-source projects

🎹 Fun Facts

  • 🎮 Gamer at heart—catch me on Xbox when I’m not coding
  • 🎹 Amateur pianist—music keeps the code flowing
  • 🖥️ Always tinkering with servers and cloud tech
