I try to utilise the browser to its fullest, and present data-heavy information in a visually pleasing way in my classes. That is when I'm not obsessively working on a FOSS app or a game jam.
- Around 2016 I saw an interactive fiction game which was very simple yet so funny, I wondered if I could make that too, learned twine, ink, inform6 (punyInform for a MSDOS game), and even made an interactive fiction game in TIC80 later with lua. I have since then been particpating in IFCOMP and SpringThing.
- Next step according to blogs I read back then was to make a blog, but I didn't find it that much fun to write php plugins for wordpress. But made some pages for an NGO so I believe that was useful. Moved my blog to jekyll later and now astro.
- Around 2020 I got really into processing but my computer couldn't run opengl well, so next was p5js, and then utilised sololearn and freecodecamp to learn javascript (completed the front-end certificate course in both).
- Freecodecamp taught data-visualization with d3js, but I found zdogjs library around 2022 and made pseudo 3d visualization stuff that looked different that anything else. Used it at some conference presentations.
- 2023 onwards started obsessing over aframejs, and participated in gamejams, became a game engine hopper but took that as an opportunity to learn more about other programming languages
- 2025 Made Karui todo, shintaku and a few other android apps, diving deep into frontend frameworks and comparing svelte, alpinejs, preact.
- 2026 Recently got into size-coding, found littlejs+box2dwasm combination to be fun, always have been a fan of simplicity, participating in js13k this year.
- 🌱 I’m currently practicing Project Euler problems. I need to get better at quick mathematical thinking.
- Ask me about all things web and javascript.
- See techstack page for my favourites, show me your projects here on github through issues or on our reddit: https://reddit.com/r/karuiFOSS
