wrenk

Wayland client for testing output power and color management.

Color commands need wp_color_manager_v1. Brightness requires output power manager v2 which requires https://lore.kernel.org/dri-devel/20260528054911.1513208-1-superm1@kernel.org/

Build and install

meson build
ninja -C build
sudo ninja -C build install

Completions install system wide with the build.

Use

wrenk power on|off|toggle [OUTPUT|*]
wrenk brightness OUTPUT VALUE
wrenk power-info [OUTPUT|*]
wrenk features
wrenk info [OUTPUT|*]
wrenk icc OUTPUT > profile.icc
wrenk run [--primaries ... --tf ... --luminances ... --icc ...] -- CMD
wrenk test

VALUE is percent. A leading sign makes it relative like brightnessctl

features prints what the compositor advertised. info prints every event the compositor sends for each output description. icc writes the output profile to stdout.

run launches CMD with a small shim. The shim tags the child surfaces with the given description.

test runs the conformance battery. Each invalid case opens its own connection. A protocol error ends the connection it arrived on, so sharing one would hide later results.
