Hi, I'm Sam, a Berlin-based software engineer working on open source projects, with a soft spot for Rust. I enjoy solving hard problems across performance, scalability and distributed systems.

Right now, I'm spending most of my time building Enroute, open-source headless git infrastructure built for agentic workloads.

Besides this, I like working on small building blocks that do one thing and do it well, with a focus on reliability and performance. This has led me to maintaining the crc32fast and gearhash crates, as well as the rusha npm package.

In the past, I contributed to early async Rust (futures, hyper and tokio) and rusoto, the unofficial AWS SDK for Rust before there was an official one. I also started deps.rs in 2018, and handed it over to the maintainers who run it today.
