# FaceFinder
This script uses facial recognition to check if a person in a photo you provide matches the profile picture of a social media URL.
## How It Works
It takes two things:
1. A picture of a person you have on your computer.
2. A link to a social media profile.
The script finds the profile picture on that page, downloads it, and then compares the face in your picture to the face in the profile picture. It will then tell you if it's a likely match.
## Setup
1. **Get the code.**
Download all these files to your computer.
2. **Install the requirements.**
Open your terminal or command prompt, go to the FaceFinder folder, and type this command:
```bash
pip install -r requirements.txt
```
## How to Use
1. **Place your image.**
Put the picture of the person you want to find into the main FaceFinder folder. Let's say it's named target.jpg.
2. **Run the script.**
In your terminal, while inside the FaceFinder folder, run the script like this:
```bash
python src/profile_finder.py target.jpg "https://www.instagram.com/exampleprofile/"
```
- Replace target.jpg with the name of your image file.
- Replace the URL with the link to the profile you want to check.
3. **Read the output.**
The script will print whether it found a match or not.
## Important Notes
- **This is not perfect.** It might fail on websites that try to block scraping (like Facebook or Instagram). It works best on simple websites where the profile picture is easy to find.
- **Picture quality matters.** The clearer the faces are in both pictures, the better the result will be.
