'Segment-completing close path operation' command not implemented #893
The spec for the Segment-completing close path operation command was added 4 years ago and hasn't been implemented by any browser yet.
(https://svgwg.org/svg2-draft/paths.html#PathDataClosePathCommand). Currently it only exists in the spec, and as a failing wpt test.
The commands z and Z are already defined in SVG 1.0.
It is used in several path tests in the SVG 1.1 test suite without known problems.
SVG 1.1 second edition is a recommendation, therefore some viewers passed such tests as well as other tests from other persons like me.
Can you explain precisely including an example, which viewer has a problem with this command?
If you want to remove such basic features from SVG 2 (?), you better remove the complete SVG 2 - what would be reasonable, because it has no relevant advantages anymore compared to SVG 1.1 and SVG 1.2 tiny after lot of new features identified to be required have been removed over the years ;o)
Sure, it is not obvious, what it means or how to implement, because basic shapes have to be equivalent to ordinary paths with defined syntax.
The wording of the section seems to be contradictory, surely something either to remove or to fix before such a draft section can become implemented and the draft can become a recommendation, if this happens at all somehow ;o)

This issue is for reconsidering the newly added "Segment-completing close path operation" which has not been implemented in any browser, nor in tools such as inkscape. An example can be found in segment-completing.svg.
Regular closepath commands like Z and z are definitely here to stay :)

Oh, it is more about this section of the draft, not about a path segment or command:
