O Happy Spring!

If it weren't for the pollen this would be a perfect season
with all things new and fresh!

This week I have a few watercolor paintings and my finished
mixed media work from my Saturday class to show for PPF.

This door is from my Monday watercolors class.

This is a redo of the teacher's granddaughter. This
looks more like her than the other 2 tries. I made her
eyelids narrower and eyebrows lighter. I trimmed off
the top of her hair and changed the face shape slightly.
The lips were changed a little bit too.

Here is a greetings card I made and sent.

These pansies paintings are from a friend's photo,
used with her permission.

Lastly, here is my mixed media piece, made from scraps of
painted papers, magazine snippets, paint, etc. It was a
lot of fun, much to my surprise. I have now bought a
large canvas to see if I can make something to go over
my sofa, using the same technique.

Happy Paint Party Friday and thanks to Kristin and Eva.

This Week's Art

I don't think this week's watercolor class piece turned out too well.
The lesson centered around using salt on the colorful trees.
This is a hayfield with round bales, spring budding trees, and a field
I thought as a painting it needed something in the lower left
corner, so I added the rise and the grasses (not in the original photo.)

Then some things I did at home just for fun...

and finally I tried to improve the young lady I had painted
and posted previously.  She looks closer to the photo,
but she looks even older, I think. However, I now have
found a great video on drawing faces for different ages.
These are my contributions to the Paint Party Friday.

New Watercolors for PPF

The marigolds were done in watercolor class.
The woman was something I did at home.
The pale marigolds painting is on a card to send out.
The rose was done this week shortly after
my root canal surgery.

For some reason I am having trouble inserting text
in this post. So I have to add everything in this spot!

These are my posts for PPF.

More Art from the Watercolor Class

First, on Monday we painted the horse sketch the teacher handed out.
It was to be painted in any color other than a horse color. I chose
colors that I like, phthlo blue, permanent rose, and new gamboge yellow.

Then we picked photos from her stack of personal photos
to try to paint. I chose a young woman's portrait photo.
It turned out to be her granddaughter. I wish I had known
that before I started because it turned out not to look
like the granddaughter (older and not as pretty!).

Then during the week I did a few flowers with pencils
and some backgrounds with alcohol inks on glossy paper.

These are my this week's offerings for Paint Party Friday.
