“It’s crazy. It’s so sad that guys are so bad and not proficient at the easiest part of the game — the only part of the game where nobody is trying to stop you from what you’re supposed to be doing,” Barry said in an interview with The Post. “It makes no freaking sense. … Free throws are a critical part of the game. It’s sad. He’s definitely a candidate to me [to shoot underhanded]. He’s got to make a switch. You can’t be shooting 30, 40 percent.”
The Yankees were playing again Saturday on the other side of the country as the Knicks hosted Game 3 of the second round against the Celtics at the Garden, where they suffered a lopsided 115-93 loss. “It’s been tough to catch a game,” Judge said before Saturday’s 11-7 loss to the A’s at Sutter Health Park. “But I’ve been seeing the highlights, seeing what they’re doing. It’s impressive, especially going up against Boston. They just won it, the former champs. “And for [the Knicks] to have a two-game lead, it’s pretty impressive. They’ve been up. They’ve been down big. Come back with some great clutch plays at the end on the offensive side and defensive side. I wish we could catch a game.”
Tom Thibodeau’s team is a sparkling 5-0 in the postseason this spring away from New York — including two 20-point comeback wins at TD Garden to open this series — but they fell to 1-3 at Madison Square Garden with Saturday’s 115-93 spanking by the Celtics. “I don’t know [why]. I can’t pinpoint one thing,” Josh Hart said after the game. “The fans are coming out and supporting and showing love, and we’ve got to make sure that’s not wasted.“We’ve just got to watch the film, we’ve got to get better, and we know that they’ll come out again Monday.”
Karl-Anthony Towns doubled over in pain in the second quarter Saturday, clutching and shaking his left hand after drawing contact while driving to the rim. The All-Star center remained in the game and ended up logging 36 minutes, but he finished just 5-for-18 from the field in a 115-93 loss to the Celtics at the Garden in Game 3 of the second round. Still, according to amateur lip readers on social media, it appeared that Towns said later in the game that he believed he “broke” something on the play.
