New series starts September 9th

Come this September, Apple TV + is ready to serve us a new six part TV series LAST SEEN with Patrick Brammall in the lead role. Out September 9th with a two episode premiere, it will see him play police detective Ian Ridley whose life fell apart 11 years ago when his young daughter, Maggie, disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever. When he receives a distress call from a teenage girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost. Maxine Peake, Daniel Henshall, Brendan Cowell also star.

Australian streamer Stan has released a trailer for their new series DEAR LIFE (previously known as Love Divided by Eleven) which will be available for streaming from January 1st launching the New Year! Brooke Satchwell leads the drama as Lillian Vandenberg, a woman struggling after the death of her fiancé who finds comfort in seeking out the recipients of his organs, triggering a tangled chain of connection. 

 

  AFTER ASH

 a doctor, is attacked by an ice addict, his fiancée Lillian turns off his life support. Months later, Lillian is still reeling in the aftermath of her fiancée’s death when she receives a letter from a man crushed by a motorbike, thanking her for his new heart. Suddenly, Lillian feels better. And she wants more of that feeling. She wants to know more about the people that were able to live. Our dear Ben Lawson also stars in the six part series alongside another of our Australian faves Daniel Henshall. THE END OF AN ERA

We first met Dale Jennings (Reid) and Helen Norville (Torv) in 1986 when a fledgling Dale was desperate to be a star newsreader, and Helen was fighting to be taken seriously as a journalist. Now Dale and Helen have finally achieved both these long held dreams. Dale is News At Six’s ‘King of News’, fronting the show solo he has become the most beloved name in news, a Gold Logie nominee, permanently number one in the nightly ratings. Meanwhile Helen’s fearless international reporting has won her great acclaiman and an opportunity to be the first woman to both anchor and produce her own current affairs show. But when a cynical network move sees the two former lovers pitted in direct competition, their kinship will be tested as never before. Over the course of 1989, Helen and Dale will compete to cover a cascade of historical events, from the Exxon Valdez oil spill, to the Tiananmen Square massacre, the boycotts of South Africa’s Apartheid, and the fall of the Berlin Wall which will be covered in the last episode announcing the crumbling of Dale's and Helen's private lives as well. Foxtel's streamer Binge from Australia has announced work on their first original movie titled HOW TO MAKE GRAVY and they have set up quite a nice cast which will include Hugo Weaving, Daniel Henshall, Brenton Thwaites, Damon Herriman, Kate Mulvany from The Twelve

and Agate Russell. Also including cameos from Australian music stars, the movie is based on Paul Kelly’s iconic Australian song that tells the story of an inmate writing a letter home as his family prepares to celebrate their first Christmas without him.
